This American style IPA is agressively hopped at a rate of over 2lbs. per barrel. Big notes of citrus and pine compliment a reserved but firm malt backbone.

Pine and some cattiness, fresh citrus on the nose. Nice light orange with a huge tan head....hangs a bit. Sweet malt up front. Orange citrus with some pine. Nice balance. Malt is rich. Bitterness is dry, earthy, and smooth. Light to medium mouth feel. Mild bitterness in the finish. Solid. jackl (8071) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 17, 2016
Gravity pour @ GBBF 2014. Gold pour with a small head. Moderate herbal character. Mountain meadow. Some peach and gentle citrus fruitiness. Flavor has some gentle pale malt ballast. Light honey. A touch of citrus. A bit of caramel. Medium body, soft carb. Feels a bit muted. JDBaker11058 (2206) - Maryland, USA - AUG 16, 2016
appearance: coppery orange, short and frothy light tan head but decent lacing. aroma: grapefruit and pine, a lovely combo, over some graham cracker and caramel malt notes. taste: resinous pine most prominent, followed by grapefruit and maybe pineapple; there’s caramel malt backbone under it. finish: dry, with lasting piney bitterness that creeps right up to the edge of dank. notes: I like my IPAs with a touch more malt at the core, but this was still nicely done. Bottle from who knows where, this stuff is all over the place.

This is a terrific beer. I have tried different brewing companies, and I don’t want to make generalizations, but the many beers they have can be almost there but not quite. For me, as a go to beer, this is very pleasant, good carbonation and head, but the taste is the thing. Malty background but just the right amount of hop bite and sweet finish. This company gets a very high rating from me, their other beers very good too, the ones that I thought were good are just an afterthought now. This beer is well balanced and refined, and their new Pinehople IPA is a smooth one too. Only one that has beaten this one out so far is the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, that’s world class and this one is one fine choice regardless. Growler fill from Whole Foods Short Pump. Poured a light copper, clear, slight creamy head that lasts well. Aroma is lightly caramel malts and gummy pine sap hops. Flavor is piney hops followed by some grapefruit and tropical fruit notes, moving into a slightly sweet caramel malt accented finish. Lingering bitterness. For lack of a better way of putting it, this came across as a well executed old school IPA. Nice. rejtable (2686) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 3, 2016
