Lot #6 Double ipa: think of this as our Lot #3 on performance-enhancing malt and hops. 8.5%abv, and all kinds of tropical fruit and citrus notes. Tommy got very nervous when he saw all the hops going into this one. 18.5°

keanex (1799) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - FEB 17, 2014
Bottled in January of 2014.
Appearance: Nearly perfectly clear amber hued body that shows off lots of sparkling carbonation. The head is frothy with a craterous top and excellent retention. The head settles into a frothy off-white coating.
Aroma: The aroma is strong and vibrant, lots of orange, some mango and pineapple and hints of floral qualities. The aroma shows some bitterness and a hint of alcohol, but overall it smells very nice.
Taste: The bitterness is pretty aggressive from start to finish with bitter orange, though an underlying sweet orange takes away from the bitterness slightly. Underlying it is hints of mango and a dry malt base that allows for the hops to stand out. The finish lingers a bit dry with the bitterness clinging.
Palate: Full-bodied with snappy and sharp carbonation.
Overall: This is an excellently crafted imperial IPA showcasing the hops. This is incredibly drinkable and very flavorful.

ganache (6089) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 15, 2014
Bottle. Nose is big on nice tropical fruits, rinds and all, with a firm pine base. Pours clear amber with a dense and rocky off-white head. Taste medium-strong bitterness, some cool astringent and highly resinous notes, but sweet with a faint amount of booze seeping through. Light body (again, something I didn’t like about the small, not souped-up original of which this is a variant) but with nice cleansing soapy character and lighter wood. some of the woodier and spicier notes from their IPA are toned down here, but I have to give it to them, they make clean and refreshing beers.

Bottle. Cloudy orange color. Almost no head. Aroma of tropical citrus, hop resin, malt sryup. Medium heavy bitterness. Medium-full body. Thicker texture, slightly oily. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. A big, malt forward, but nicely hoppy beer. Some sticky hop resin aftertaste. Not bad. I think I liked the single IPA better.

On draft at Isaacs. Nothing revolutianary about this IPA, but it holds its own. Nice, properly blended notesof Caramel malt, pine and citrus. Te finish is bitter and dry. I enjoyed it a lot.

callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 25, 2013
Hazy orange body, medium sized off-white head, spotty lacing. Dank pine, resin, and light tropical fruits. underlying caramel malts are a bit too assertive. Medium to full bodied, moderate carbonation, some residual sweetness in the finish, assertive bitterness.

Blairgus (4615) - California, USA - NOV 21, 2013
21 nov 2013, tap. Pink/gold, clear, no bubbles. Nose is pine and grapefruit hops. Med body and moderately fizzy. Sugary malt that kind of dominates the grapefruit hops. Pretty good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark amber frothy head laces glass. Smells sweet, piney, mango and resin. Tastes sweet at first, hops, pine, resin, then bitters with a mango aftertaste. Silky smooth, mouthfeel and light to medium body.
