Bottle. Pours black. Tan head. Nose/taste of roasted dark and black malts and chocolate. Mild coffee aroma. Light smoke. Dry chocolate finish. Light to medium body. Plain. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 17, 2011
A: Pours a dark brown color with a sturdy khaki colored head and mild lacing.
S: A very strong smoke aroma to this beer. Some good roasted malt notes and maybe a bit of dark, bitter chocolate. Maybe a little bit of a soap in there. The smoke really dominates the nose, though.
T: Kind of harsh and slightly astringent. The smoke is again at the forefront and really makes up most of the flavor. A decent roasted malt flavor and just a bit of bitter dark chocolate.
M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation and a drying feeling on the tongue.
D: An alright beer, even with its strong smokiness. Don’t know if I’d want to drink a bottle, though. Drake (14332) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 14, 2011
12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA, opened 1/10/10. Pours a dark ruby color with a medium tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of tart malty notes along with some roast and chocolate. The taste is chocolate, roast, berries, bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Not bad, but the tartness does seem like its not supposed to be there.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Roasty, coffee, with some smokiness. BVery (11461) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Bottle via trade - thanks Chris! Very dark pour with a monster carbonated head. This one tastes quite sour - kind of drowns out the chocolate and roasted coffee that I’m sure is supposed to be front and center with this beer. Possibly infected?
