Perfect golden with light orange touch color. Boozy aroma, but not too much. Rum and oak is great. Slight raisin scent also. Palate is sugary and holds to the tongue and cheeks. Some bread and boozy taste. Bottle

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear golden with a small white head. The aroma has has almost a tropical rum to it. Not quite Malibu but definitely a sweet mix of booze and island fruits. The taste has a strong boozy flavor. Way too much for the beer. Sorry, not a fan.

From a 75 cl bottle (number 270 of 1500) shared at home. Pours a hazy gole with an off white head. Light aroma of butterscotch. Flavors of caramel, oak, vanill and rum. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel, bitter finish.

Beerdedone (3408) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 13, 2014
Bottle 416 of 1200. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of rum, oak, fruit, caramel and vanilla. Flavor of rum, caramel, oak, sweet toffee, raisins, vanilla and some fruitiness.

3.4
ElCapitan22 (363) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 28, 2014
Pours a slightly hazy orange/amber color with next to no lacing. Smells of toffee and butterscotch. Tastes of spiced rum. A nice drink that definitely reminds you of rum, but not a memorable drink.

3.6
TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - AUG 20, 2014
Pours a hazy golden orange with a small bubbly white head. Aroma was initially oxidized, hints of rum, oak, vanilla, citrus and spicy yeast notes. Flavor of citrus, light oxidation, light rum, vanilla, oak.

Lengthy palate for such a light tasting beer. Lots of boozy alcohol, and I can’t say the rum is special in this context or a particularly beer-friendly spirit. It’s raisiny, plummy, and overpowering. Still, the beer is meant to showcase this technique, and it is successful at showing what golden ale in rum barrels should aspire to be.

Lots of malt and some boozy perfume like yeast hear. Pours cloudy golden without much head or lacing. Finishes sweet and lightly bitter. Cones together pretty well. Tap at Max’s.
