Pours a near dark brown with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of caramel with a bit of rye barrel and light sweet grains. Flavor has a lot of sweetness with some rye and a hint of grassiness as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Looks like this one should be un-retired? 2016 vintage from a 22oz bottle. Poured a brown color with amber edges and a small sized off white head. Whiskey, wood, vanilla, dark fruits, some sugary sweetness and some warming alcohol in the finish. I enjoyed this.

Bottle sample from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor had caramel, toffee, rye whiskey, vanilla, oak, some dark fruit, raisins, the barrel imparts some booziness but not in a bad way, fairly decent ba rye wine.

Bottle. It poured a hazy, amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of whiskey and some caramel. The taste was similar to the aroma with more whiskey, wood, alcohol and a nice boozy finish. Quite tasty.

750ml bottle. Don’t remember where I had this but distinctly remember the beer. Booze bomb but not offensive.

Bottle pours amber brown with yellow head. Aroma faint malts and whiskey. Taste mild caramel. Finish oak and mild whiskey. Thin palate. Very average beer. Nothing terrible about it but nothing particularity good either.

charule (2257) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 6, 2015
Extra bottle from FOBAB. Poured dark brown amber with white creamy head. Aroma sweet boozy dark fruit sugar rye. Light carb med bod. Tastes pretty high octane fruity taste.

nimbleprop (8278) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 14, 2014
750ml bottle pours a murky amber with some creamy, white head. Nose is solid, caramel, toffee, booze, cane sugar, vanillin, mild spice, cakey. Flavor is sweet, lots of toffee/caramel, vanillin, candied orange slices, malt, brown sugar. Full bodied but fairly smooth.

Bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Rye, chocolate, oak aromas. Chicolate and malty flavors. Sweet and dry tones.

Pour from 750 at FOBAB. Caramel brown. Lots of whiskey spirit. Touch of barleywine comes through but largely covered by the barrel. Flavors arent that strong. Not bad, but also not interesting.
