tombyars (1683) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 11, 2016
Tasted this in the Three Judges, Partick on the 25th November 2016. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear red amber in colour with a thin white head. Malty aroma with notes of tart berry fruit. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts deliver a digestive biscuit base with syrupy raisin fruit and roast grain flavours in the mouth. Dry bitter hop resins have a damp earthy flavour lingering in the palate, giving a mustiness to the aftertaste. Finish is dry and malty with tart redcurrant fruit much in evidence. A below standard ESB but worth trying non the less.

Sigmund (7390) - Tau, NORWAY - NOV 1, 2016
Cask half pint at The Market Porter, Borough. Dark copper colour, small off-white head. Moderate malty aroma. Earthy and surprisingly roasty dry flavour, not bad, but not quite my cup of tea.

jjsint (3002) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2016
Handpull cask at the White Horse, Exning. Bright orange-ruby with a large beige head. Floral malty scent, with hints of rose and caramel. Extremely bitter taste counters the sweetness of the malt but it isn’t really balanced. Drinkable and it has its moments but I find even a half pint of it wearing.

Rune (12587) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 20, 2016
Cask ale, pint shared with Finn, taproom at the brewery. Copper coloured body, dissipating pearl white head, clingy lacing. Lightly spiced aroma joined by brown malts. Firm malt-fruity taste profile of caramel, nuts, liquorice and spiced fruits. Smooth malt-fruity finish. Fits the season (Exeter 29.09.2016).

Bottle from the brewery - thanks Rachel! Pours a tawny red colour with cream-coloured head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is dominated by caramel and is quite fruity. Moderate body and carbonation. Some very gentle spice in the finish. Great for winter drinking.
