Another delicious Porter by Matthew Steinberg! Demo Tape Five has grown up and gotten it’s own name! We refined the process a bit to get this beer right where we want it. All the roasted malts for this beer come from Valley Malt in Hadley, MA.

It's from Massachusetts, but I won't hold that against it. This beer has a nice, nutty flavor and some excellent sweetness, balanced against a decent hop profile. It's a good one.

Pours mahogany with medium, beige head. Aroma is heavy caramel and roast. Taste is caramel and nuttiness, warming to strong coffee. Finish is smooth with light coffee notes. A good porter.

Tasting at Erik's, can
Black color. Dirt aroma, cardboard, wet malts. Dry mouthfeel, a bit of roasted malts, little chocolate, swampy water, light sourness.
Not even a real Porter. Not convincing.

473ml can @ Erik's. Pours an entirely opaque dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is tons of toasted malt with some roasted malts. Flavour is simple and toasted malt.

16 oz. can, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma is quite dry, with toasted malt and some oats. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, dry oats and a hint of a metallic character. Dry and nicely structured. Solid.

Can - Roast grains with some grains. Jet brown with a small white head. Toast and some light burnt notes. Closer to a dark lager.

Oakes (19681) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2017
Medium brown. Not much head. Has a mellow cocoa aroma, with a light chocolate note. Light body, with a chocolate note. OK, a relatively thin porter...has a light nuttiness. OK.

Handypaul (596) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - OCT 8, 2017
Can. Pours black with a 1-finger, light brown, fully lasting, frothy head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of chocolate. Thin body, lightly bitter, not much sweetness, flavor of roasted malt and bitter chocolate, average carbo and a lightly bitter finish of medium duration.

tapefuzz (1021) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 18, 2017
16oz can. Pours brown with a small beige head. Aroma is roast. Taste is watery roast, milk, and a touch of coffee. Light-medium body. Average carbonation. Watery, slick mouthfeel.

Sampler at ginger man Boston. Pours black with a thick khaki head. Leaves a shitload of lacing in the glass. Huge roasted malt on the nose and tongue. Has a bit of a raspberry thing as well. Very nice.
