I decanted this from a bottle. Produced very little head. Fairly still for a lager. Did not see a date stamp on the bottle but my local store tends to keep them pretty fresh. Not a bad beer by any stretch. Looks heavy, but has light mouth feel. Most of the taste and aroma were subtle. The caramel and Munich malts definitely come through. Not an everyday beer for me, but a nice beer to have around to add variety. Dogbrick (14443) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 7, 2018
Clear dark amber color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Aroma of malt, caramel and chocolate. Light-bodied with flavors of roast malt, sweet caramel and chocolate. The finish is biscuity malt and caramel. Decent overall. DiarmaidBHK (6187) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 29, 2017
Sampler at brewpub. Pours dark brown with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Lots of caramel malt on the nose and tongue. As others have noted it’s almost syrupy. Finished fairly clean. Interesting. magsinva (1493) - Virginia, USA - AUG 29, 2017
Draft @ Exile - My first dunkel. Pours deep clear reddish brown with a white head. This one is pure wheat toast with a little caramel sweetness to keep it from being too dry. Very nice! Drake (14441) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 27, 2017
Keg at El Bait Shop. Clear dark red, thin foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of raisin, caramel. Taste is raisin, toasted malt, toffee. Medium bodied, well balanced.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours clear scotch brown, shirt tan head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, molasses, sassafras, grains. Taste of same with a tinge of coffee and dark candi syrup. Super smooth. DandyWolfFloyd (1402) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 23, 2016
Aroma - syrupy kind of malt, a little toast, a touch of roast, and some birch like quality.
Appearance - the body is a clean dark amber, with good nucleation. The head is 2" and beige, and settles into a layer of filmy suds.
Taste - has a kind, slightly sweet syrupy malt. There is a slight toast and roast about the malt. There is a small hint of birch oil or sassafras, doubtful it’s in the batch, but it has that quality in place.
Palate - medium body, texture is velvety, the carbonation is average, the finish is slightly tannic. Nuffield (4254) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - NOV 13, 2016
Though with a slightly muted nose, the flavors are good, especially early on, when the maltiness stretches as far as caramel and chocolate, and it rounds into a solid breadiness. But the appearance signaled that it might be a bit flat (some early carbonation) and indeed, the palate just limped home rather disappointingly. O.k. enough in some ways, but nothing to recommend. mmather (188) - Colorado, USA - SEP 15, 2016
Nice dark amber color, aroma of caramel. Smooth, malty slight hint of hop bitterness. A very nice American version of the German Classic.
