0.5Lbottle as gift, thanks tamas/istvan.
Underground brewing with the dreams of commercial production.
poured almost black with brown head. carbonation appears soft and from the taste it is correct. Aroma is heavily roasted malts with coffee very dominant. Mouthful is oily/creamy thick texture full body and heavy, the way a stout should be. Taste is again roasted and burnt malts with coffee but in the taste also some chocolate coming through. this stout has a good balance which means its very pleasant to drink. I am very suprised at the result of this. Not bad,,, not bad at all. This could pass under any label from larger brewer. good job kovika91 (31) - HUNGARY - AUG 18, 2012
0,33l bottle from my inventory, brewed with thomasalias, thanks!
Amazing black color with medium brown head, wich is not very durable. Chocolate odor, little bit fruity and hoppy. For first glup, it is very roasty, I think it’s too much, but then replace it strong bitter chocolate, spicy hops. Little bit sour, but it’s not annoying, it come from the acidity of burned malts (7% carafa 1400, 7% chocolate). It has very creamy texture with medium body. The carbonation is very moderated, it’s ok for this style, I think that is appropriate. Interestingly the beer is dry, and its strange with this texture, I dont experience this thing in another beers before. Burned, roasy and hoppy palate, later only the hops stay in mouth.
For summary the beer is OK for first batch stout, but the sourness, and too much rostiness is wrong, but it’s still drinkable, I like it. The hops, texture, body, color, carbonation is good. I hope the head will be more durable. I think it would be better with little sweetness and more fruitiness.
