Piana bardzo obfita, trwała. Barwa słomkowo złota, delikatnie opalizująca. Aromat przyjemny - głównie zest grejpfrutowy, cytryna, kwiaty, siano. W smaku wytrawne, cytrusowe, ziołowe, z lekkim funky na finiszu. Dość solidna, nieco szorstka, żywiczna goryczka, średnie wysycenie, troszkę zbyt rozgrzewający alkohol.
Genialny zapach, przyjemny smak i alkoholowy posmak. Znów, podobnie jak w Straff, wersja o niższym ABV byłaby przyjemniejsza, bardziej pijalna.

Alengrin (5718) - BELGIUM - OCT 13, 2017
Hoppy tripel from this Italian craft brewery, bottle from Beergium. Tightly 'membranous' lacing, egg-white, fairly thick, dense, stable head only showing a few gaps in the middle after minutes, over a misty peach blonde beer with ochre-ish hue, turning deeper ochre and eventually downright muddy with yeasty sediment. Aroma of old orange juice, pear, ripe banana peel, soap, powder sugar, ripe peach, calvados, butter, stewed sweet apples, cloves, chewing gum, dried apricots soaked in 'jenever', dried ginger, straw, moist white pepper, wodka, camomile flowers, bee wax, parsley, sparkling water. Fruity onset, the old banana ester paired with apricot-, pear- and pineapple-like notes, sweet in its core (also due to a kind of residual 'white sugariness' like in many Belgian tripels) but surrounded with a mild, green apple- and gooseberry-ish sourishness providing balance against this sweetness; medium carbonation softly tingling on the tongue, establishing minerally aspects that brighten up the banana (even bubblegum) ester a bit. Thick and smooth, quite heavy, bready and a tad buttery malt body with cake-like and notably soapy aspects to it, while the sugariness thinly continues alongside a much more pronounced bubblegummy factor; finishes in a confident, indeed somewhat 'zesty', wormwood-like and floral hop bitterness, eliciting saliva-like juiciness while clove-like phenols begin to abound and the banana ester stubbornly persists. Earthy yeastiness is there as well, a bit on the 'dirty' side even especially after adding the sediment, before being washed away by not only the leafy, spicy hop bitterness, but also a wodka-like, warming alcohol glow, accentuating the pepperiness of the finish. Sweetness, still with this somewhat banana-like edge to it, lingers after swallowing, bittered by the generous dosis of hops and made a tad wry by the alcohol. The soapiness remains in the back of the mouth as well - a bit too much so for my liking. Indeed too soapy, too bubblegummy and too alcoholic for me to thoroughly appreciate, but as a bitter tripel the Belgian way, this beer gives a convincing performance; if only the masses of 'real' Belgian tripels were this hop bitter (but in this case I think the 'tripel saisons' like Bons Voeux were the inspiration). That said, if I was to drink this blind and was told that this was actually Belgian, I would have easily believed it; so if the intention was to create a thoroughly Belgian-style strong blonde ale, mission accomplished - completely. I'm afraid I just had too many a beer like this in my life now - though admittedly the firm hop bitterness in this particular case does a fine job at compensating for that and I have to admit that there are some strong saison-like traits to it, not that far removed from the abovementioned Bons Voeux. The alcoholic wryness does keep bothering me a bit, though. Not Extraomnes' best offering I think, but I only had a few of their beers so I will refrain from putting this into the context of their overall portfolio. One point of criticism regarding the name, though: when I bought this, I was mislead by the name which obviously suggests DIPA - so my disappointment in running into another Belgian style tripel may influence my score here a bit, though I really try not to let that happen.

Thank you for sharing tderoeck! Sampled draft @ VCBF 2017. Either changed preferences and/or different circumstances but this one is bit too BE for me, lacks balances, cleanness of the regular one. Beer is always different fro me. Always varies. Golden orange, little white head. Soapy nose, grainy, zest, too soapy with strong BE esters. Taste is very soapy too much so with touch too heavy BE esters, zest. Body is soapy & esters. Expected more honestly. Maybe another time it will be different again.

Ciemno-żółte, nieprzejrzyste, mętne. W zapachu sporo zestu, przyprawy. W smaku też mocno wyczuwalny zest, jest wytrawnie, cytrusowo, do tego trochę bazylii, lekko wyczuwalny alkohol.
