ClubGonzo (5685) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 2, 2013
1987 bottle @ In de Verzekering Tegen de Grote Dorst, Belgium. 80’s beer - the excitement is strong! :-) Pours a dark amber-bronze body with a tiny white head. Nose is oxidized cherry and port notes, sweet dark fruits and hints of sawdust and cellar mold. Taste is sweet (and even more heavily) oxidized notes of cherries, dark berries, apple vinegar and sawdust. Almost flat, but still complex and rather interesting I think. Looking forward to tasting a lambic of this age which is not pasteurized and sweetened, like the Eylenbosch series.

kraddel (8894) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 30, 2013
87 vintage at kulmmi . pour brown, almost no head due to age. smell is cherry, sugary, taste is flat, old cherry, not realy sour. would have been w<ay better if not sweetened !

Scopey (15747) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2013
1987 bottle shared at the Kulminator. It pours deep red with a small bubbly head and some small particles at the bottle of the glass. The nose is sour cherry, tangy, fruit syrup and cherry tunes (throat lozenges). The taste is tangy cherry, light earth, sherbet, sour green apple, boiled sweets and jam with a smooth finish. Medium body, low carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. There’s not much to it really....it’s smooth, tangy and fairly drinkable. Fun to try nonetheless.

jackl (8425) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 24, 2013
1987 bottle @ Kulminator. Deep, rusty red pour. No head. The nose is fruit by the foot. Rich cherries. Minor tart accents. A bit sweeter smelling than the ’87 framboise we drank alongside it. The taste is somewhat oxidized (no surprise there!). A bit of grape skin, must, sweet cherry jam. Little else. Smooth drinking, very soft. Overall, OK.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2013
Re-rate (8 June 2013): Vintage 1993, 30L barrel @ In de Verzekering.
Deep brown red colour, beige head. Aroma of cherry, caramel, confiture, apple sauce and raisins. Hint of porto. Sweet flavour, raisins, caramel, cherry syrup and candy sugar. Cherry finish, caramel and raisins.
Nice, much better than the 25cL bottled version. Possibly pasteurised: no artificial sweeteners in this one as far as I could tell.
(draught @ De Dag van de Kriek, Eizeringen)

Initial rating (23 April 2013):
Caramel brown colour, slight white head. Aroma of confiture, caramel, molasses, light cherry and sweetener. Sweet flavour, caramel, syrup, light fruit and confiture. Well carbonated. Finish cherry and apple treacle (appelstroop)
(from 25cL bottle @ In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst - during the after-Tour de Geuze barbecue. Thanks for sharing, Geert!)

tderoeck (10195) - Gent, BELGIUM - APR 12, 2013
26/III/13 - 37.5cl bottle from Kulminator (Antwerpen) @ home - BB: not indicated, but must have been an early 80ies vintage (2013-271)

Clear dark amber to ruby red beer, no head. aroma: lots of cherry candy, surprisingly actually. A bit mouldy, sweet and sugary. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sweet and fruity, cherry candy, a bit aged. Aftertaste: lots of cherry candy, sweet, slightly lemony acidity, mouldy again. Probably not a "real" cherry beer, but with added syrup and pasteurised after bottling.

bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 2, 2012
(750ml bottle, 1987 vintage) Pours a hazy amber body with a spare white head. Aroma of cherry, mustiness, caramel, earth, and marzipan. Flavor of cherries, herbs, earth, and light citrus with a moderately dry finish.

2.9
daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 6, 2012
Cloudy reddish brown color, off white head. Aroma reminds me of cherry chewable vitamin c. Flavor is a bit of old cherries, a bit stale and oxidized. Sour and sweet both. But more sweet.

3.5
KyotoLefty (10693) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 1, 2012
1987 bottle shared by Bobby at the Grand Tasting 2012 LA. Brownish red. Nice lush cherry nose. Not funky. Flavor is pretty decent cherry, though not very interesting as a lambic. Aged well, though, and very smooth.

2.9
brokensail (16648) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 28, 2012
Pours a murky brownish-red color with little to no head. Sweet cherry aroma, cardboard oxidation, a light tartness, and sugar. A light woodiness, maybe some vinegar. The flavor is sweet and sugary. Decent cherry flavor, lots of cardboard, a touch of vinegar to go with the more acidic sourness.
