Flavor and Palate : Medium bodied. Bitter hoppy notes with lighter malt base. Not sure how to classify this brew. Different.
[on cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest, 2012]
Fruity aromas float above a very dark liquid. Low bitterness, though malty flavour, Really not an imperial pilsner. mabel (10004) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 30, 2012
[4768-20120914] Cask. Roasted grainy malt aroma. Slightly hazy, dark brown red body with a quick foamy off-white head. More toasted fruit malt grains and a mild raspberry fruit chocolate in the background. Medium body. Really interesting with more sips. (7/3/7/4/16) 3.7

On tap at Burger Bar. Pours a clear dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and bitter hops. Flavor of sweet malt up front with some grassy hops. Slightly odd - neither the hoppy pilsener notes nor the dark roasted "black" notes dominate. It’s a tasty drinkable beer though.

Draught at Burger Bar. Deep clear ruby black with a minimal off-white head. Somewhat sweet and boozy coffee aroma, taste follows, a bit herbal. Sticky, average body, solid carbonation, boozy

cask days @ beau’s oktoberfest, 2012. hazy light brown with a small off-white cap. some caramel, booze, grass, peppery, fruity. light body, nice citrusy finish. DerWeg (1750) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 3, 2012
Cask @ Castro’s. Good strong black lager, definitely USA influence in the whole style. Not so much roast as dark fruit, solid middle of dark malt fullness, edges slightly roasty and dry, finish is sweet-dry. A bit viscous and sticky but good quaff, hides the alcohol. Full pint at Imbibe. Mostly clear dark brown with a large beige head. I was expecting something rather unnecessary and stupid, but was very pleasantly surprised. Probably one of the deepest, richest malt body’s I’ve had in quite some time, very roasty and sweet with cereal grains. Aroma was that of a good dry stout, and nothing like the flavour. The feel is extremely unique, and gets thicker the longer it lingers on your palate. The alcohol is extremely well hidden, but you will feel it later if you drink this too fast. Good job, F&M! On tap at the Only (Toronto Beer Week 2012 event). Pours a dark brown with moderate-sized tan head and dark tan head. Aroma is quite roasty with a little chocolate. Flavour is quite smoky with some underlying slightly sweet chocolate. Fine carbonation. Decent. JoeMcPhee (10137) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 20, 2012
Cask. Dark brown pour with a loose bubbly head. Subtle aroma with some notes of coffee and a little bit of cocoa. Sweet malt up front with an assertive bitterness on the back. This isn’t a schwarzbier and it isn’t even a very good lager. Estery with some slick sweetness that I could do without. It isn’t bad but it isn’t exactly good either.
