341mL bottle. Pours clear dark copper/ mahogany colour with off white head. Aroma sweet, malty nutty with brown sugar and caramel. Taste of caramel, coffee, toffee. Fair bitterness. It is a very pleasant and enjoyable smooth beer.

On cask at the Only. Pours a cloudy orange-ish dark brown with average-sized light tan head. Aroma is a weird caramel and a bit of chocolate. Flavour likewise, although as it warms some fruitiness emerges and it becomes more pleasant. Slick, oily mouthfeel. Not great.

Draught. Dark ruby-brown colour, thin head. Taste of chocolate. Not a bad beer.

HeistAlmighty (1156) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - JUL 10, 2012
341mL bottle. Pours a dark brown copper colour with a moderate off white head. Looks pretty filtered. Roasty caramel brown sugar, toasted bread aroma. Coffee and toast a bit more evident on taste. Hint of coffee. Body a little watery, but clean and smooth. Overall, something that would be easy to drink a few of.

mansquito (6067) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Victory Cafe, Toronto cask: Pours a dark brown with a small head. Aroma is ambiguously malty. Taste is slightly sweet. Body is far too light to be a solid brew. I had difficulty finishing this because I had very little desire to drink the whole thing. This was a disappointment at best.

Some smell of bitter hops and a follow through that has a hint of coffee on it, a nutty bitter. A medium body with an alright amber colour and virtually no head. Not bad. Bottle.

From bottle. Pours transparent reddish brown. No head. Mild aroma of coffee and caramel. Light body with thin lightly carbonated texture. Good, but nothing special.

This ones a bite weird and a little diff from other dark ALES i had. Dark beers rule! This one is watery, heavy,I can notise the english hops after the watery part(but in a diff way)AND then some brown sugar ruffness with some chocolate in the taste. I do like this one but its a bit weird a little. Fire brewed old style

thb (825) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 30, 2011
Pours clear red-brown with thin head. Aroma - chocolate, grains, licorice. Taste is reasonably well balanced between sweet/bitter, perhaps a bit of a sugary sweetness in there. Carbonation seems harsh and distracting.

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 23, 2011
341 ml bottle in a mixed 6-pack from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear mahogany with a so-so tan head. Aroma: Fairly assertive fruity, sweet, slightly nutty and earthy malts, brown sugar, some toffee/treacle notes, a little coffee and darker malts, a bit brothy/savoury, a little soy sauce, nice. Palate: Medium body, reasonably nice effervescence. Flav.: Quite savoury, soy sauce, umami?, a bit of coffee, some of the sweeter malt notes, though certainly less than the nose, a touch nutty/earthy, quite malt forward; dry with fair bitterness and a pleasant, clean dark-roasted malt finish.

This is the reason for buying the OCB Holiday Pack. Not the entirely compelling, but close enough.
