probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 23, 2011
341 ml bottle in a mixed 6-pack from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear mahogany with a so-so tan head. Aroma: Fairly assertive fruity, sweet, slightly nutty and earthy malts, brown sugar, some toffee/treacle notes, a little coffee and darker malts, a bit brothy/savoury, a little soy sauce, nice. Palate: Medium body, reasonably nice effervescence. Flav.: Quite savoury, soy sauce, umami?, a bit of coffee, some of the sweeter malt notes, though certainly less than the nose, a touch nutty/earthy, quite malt forward; dry with fair bitterness and a pleasant, clean dark-roasted malt finish.

This is the reason for buying the OCB Holiday Pack. Not the entirely compelling, but close enough.

draught. Dark ruby-brown colour, thin head. Aroma of malts, yeast, some roast chocolate notes. Taste mirrors the aroma, but mouthfeel is thin and too bubbly. Ok.

341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer on July 18, 2011 after purchasing a 6 pack from my local LCBO outlet. The beer poured a translucent reddish-brown with a very thin white head. The aroma was roasted malt, weak coffee, some caramel, and weak fruit. The mouthfeel was thin to medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is both bitter and sour malt, with a hint of sweetness.

Ontbeertaster (2362) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 1, 2011
Bottle, pours brown, expected a bit more darkness, but the smell is nice, its of kind of chocolate yeastyness, Taste is similar. I found it to be very yeasty, hints of similar tastes to other f n m beers. but it worked for this offering, I enjoyed the taste of this beer

Sweet, malty, and easy to drink. Hops are present but don’t translate into a strong bitterness. Very sessionable. I liked.

Bottle. Attractive mahogany appearance. Aromas of hot chocolate, mild coffee and corn syrup. Burnt chocolate and sawdust flavours. Good in general but painfully average for a dark.

Zenwolf (269) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 31, 2010
Draught. Dark copper-brown with red tinge. Medium body with too much fizz. Caramel and blonde nuts.. very drinkable.. though slightly acrid in the swallow. On Tap at a steakhouse I used to eat in.. will never eat there again.. so no more of this for me either..
