This pepper beer poured a slightly cloudy darker amber colour with a quick living. bright white head. Scents include peppers, very little hop and light malt. First sip was pretty good with flavours of peppers, sweet malt and very light hop. Finish is slightly bitter with pepper flavour lingering.

Ontario Craft Beer Week
The beer poured a translucent golden red with a thin white cap. The aroma was rye and weak pepper. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and mild carbonation. The flavour was grainly with weak peppery notes. Certainly not the same calibre as the Route d’Epices.
July 6, 2012 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs, mabel & tupalev. 473ml can c/o tupalev. I am excited - I love green peppers. Extremely pale gold with pretty much no head at all (2-). Smells like ... peppers; not sweet, not vegetal, just crisp fresh-chopped green pepper, some heat and earthiness (not very beer-like though). Taste is a bit thin but follows the aroma - no heat per se, just green pepper and celery with a whisper of grass, the kind you pluck and chew on a lazy summer day. Very thin and slick, not much carbonation, finishes quick, leaves an aftertaste of soil and peppers - an oddball, but overall I liked it way more than I should have. This one’s a grower, and definitely strong on the front. Blond color little head. Mild fruit aroma with small sting of peppers that rounds out as it warms. Taste fruity and pale-malt base with forceful peppery chiles and black pepper, assault on palate throat and gut. Not fun!! But I proceed for digestive benefit, and get a bit of cremy toffee and roast root vegetable (roast pepper?) Can [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o tupalev. Pours a clear pale gold with a spare diminishing white head. Aroma of red peppers, black pepper and grain. Nice flavour of black pepper, red peppers and a spicy finish. Average bodied, somewhat flat. Pretty good, it’s interesting and enjoyable.

It was fairly bright, a slightly chill hazed golden. The nose was grainy, but did hint at some of the pepper notes, but only mildly. All the pepper was in the finish, and boy was it ever. Not so much in a spicy way, no the beer was not all that hot, but it was definitely green and that peppercorn flavour lasted some time. I found that the sweetness was a bit too muted to really balance out the pepper profile to allow for any sort of regular consumption.
I think this was a neat experiment, and I probably should not have ordered a full pint. This would work well with a spicy meal that has some sweetness to it, and would also work well incorporated into a sauce, or alternately used as a marinade.

[4541-20120621] Tap. Mild grains aroma, not a lot going on. Clear, light orange body with a quick foamy white head. Hot peppery seeds and red pepper flavour with a lingering pepper aftertaste. Medium body is quite hot in spices. Interesting, not too overwhelming but definitely have to be in the mood for it. (4/3/5/3/12) 2.7

2012-06-21. Crisp pale amber, small beige head. 3+ Flavour of red pepper, modest heat, the red pepper character is actually quite nice but seems odd in a beer. Pepper lingers in the aftertaste, modest heat in the back of the throat. Aroma of roasted peppers and sweet baked red peppers. Average bodied palate. The base beer is a bit too mild to contribute much to it. I enjoy the red pepper flavour, much more than the hot peppers, and wonder what it might be like in a more robust saison, or belgian style beer? Overall its okay, but a small glass is plenty. On tap at C’est What Summer Festival Of Craft Breweries. Pours a clear golden colour with modest-sized white head. Aroma is peppery but not overpoweringly so and some grainy malt. Flavour has a distinct but not overly hot pepperiness and graininess. A little peppery warmth in finish. Fine-ish carbonation. More drinkable than I might have expected but a touch bland. A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, strong vegetable pepper, green pepper seeds, not bad. In mouth, a smooth biscuit malt with light burning notes, no hops, a bit boring. On tap at Session 99, June 23 2012.
