Smoked Porter. This porter has been crafted using a blend of old and new, dark and light. Peat smoked malt, noble hops and dehusked roasted malt combine to give a complex, deep brown, smoky beer with a subtle fruity hop flavour.

(Draught at BrewDog Camden, London, 23 Nov 2017) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, salty liquorice, hints of smoke and a balanced cacao bitterness in a dry finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced, with a mild smoke touch. Nice one.

Pours dark brown, with a nice off-white head that dissipates to a beaded rim. Faint smell of chocolate and subtle malts, with a touch of blueberry and cheesy sock. Very lightly carbonated--just a light fizz to begin the mouthfeel, which then becomes quite thin. Flavours of malt, chocolate, and alcohol are present but quite delicate. Surprisingly light-bodied for a porter: I wouldn't call it watery so much as verging on still. It's not terrible, but something I wouldn't drink again.

Boks. Gave fra Rune. Svart. Høyt luftig skum med litt farge. Spotlacing. Sjokoladearoma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken litt bacon. Tørr ettersmak. Gjennomgående lett røykpreg.

Can as a gift from somewhere in Glasgow. Mid- to dark brown, almost opaque with a small cream-coloured head. Enticing aroma of black olives, smoked malt, tar liquorice, babaganoush. Bitter and slightly savoury taste with astringent hop notes battling against the aggressively roasted malt. There’s a touch of sweetness in the finish. Liquorice, salted plum, tapenade in the aftertaste. Body is thin for the style but this provides some relief from the intensity. An exciting brew.

Rune (14065) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUL 25, 2017
Draught, beer flight glass at Norwich Tap House. Patchy, fawn-coloured head. Spotty lacing. Near black coloured body. Smoked malty aroma with hints of liquorice. Subdued smoked meat to the taste profile with some impacts of chocolate malts and liquorice. Prolonged ending. Quite well bodied. Nice smoked porter. (10.07.2017).
