750 ml. into footed glass. Kind of underwhelming. Nothing about this beer stood out to me. After reading the description, I now know that the occassional spiciness underneath the dark, non-sweet chocolate malt is black pepper, but that flavor never came to mind while drinking. Smooth and quaffable, surely, but without any of the stand-out uniqueness I’ve come to expect from Fantome.

Pours dark amber with a small head. Nose shows earthy saison notes, mint, fennel, aniseed as well as soft bready and toasty notes. Flavours include more saison notes, bready malt and soft herbal notes.

BB backlog, Bomber bottle from Canals West Deptford. Pours an ultra hazy amber golden with large head which is usually case with these dudes. Nose is fresh ground pepper, grass, hay, spice, yeast and floral hops. Flavor was most of the same. Body was smooth. Good stuff from Fantome.

Huge and fluffy bege head. Clear solid golden color. Spicy aroma. Taste like a fine saison and with some pepper. Small sweetness

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 2018. Pours hazy reddish orange/copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, fig, red/white grape, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, fig, red/white grape, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery/spicy bitterness and lightly tart/tangy yeast on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, fig, red/white grape, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing thorough the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth and creamy/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is and excellent dark saison. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours hazy amber with a thick off-white head. Aroma of malt, funk, banana and clove. Malty and funky flavor with some booze before an estery yeast finish.

Bottle. Pours unclear blonde, good white head. Smell is fine, bitter, malty. Taste is rather bitter, malty. Bit dry. Nothing weird about it, which makes it a very weird fantome. Some peppery background. in balance. Not extremely good, but I like it.

Pana duża, dość gruba, szybko opada do chmurki. Barwa pomarańczowa, mętna. Aromat dośc słodki i funky - dojrzałe pomarańcze, morele, siano, pieprz...

75cl bottle from Dany at the brewery in Soy. Pours cloudy deep amber, frothy effervescent off-white head. Aroma is earthy, saison-esque spice. Taste is rich spice, red wine oak, mild sherry. Tastes a lot richer and stronger than 4.7%. Extremely flavoursome, kinda tastes red wine barrel-aged with added bretty complexity. Another cracker from Dany!

Bottle shared. Clear golden with big fluffy off white head. Grassy, quite some bitter herbs, lemon, orange, soft caramel, touch of spices but I don’t get much black pepper. Under medium sweet and medium bitter. Almost medium bodied with nice carbonation and light spicy finish. Quite good.
