Bottle... Murky golden ale with a huge, pillowy, white head. Excellent retention. The aroma offers white pepper, pale malts and is that a rumor of smoke? Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor is bittersweet with a lot of pale malt character and a hint of anise. Finishes grainy, lightly bitter and tongue numbing. Kudos to Maltzilla for sharing this rarity with the south Florida crew! JorisPPattyn (9929) - Ursel, BELGIUM - SEP 29, 2012
Fully hazy orange beer with a thick, cream-coloured head. Bit vinous nose, alcohol, fusels, some spices, and aromatic hops, smelling of exotic fruit and dried apricots - apricotbrandy, even. But unfortunately, a slight waft of coriander there as well. The poison creeps everywhere... Bit of musk, certainly warming up. Celery - celerisalt, even - white whine, rhubarb, dried apricots, (bread)yeast, coriander. White sultanas in the finish. Not exactly the taste(s) I look for in beer, but the complexity is truly staggering. Musk returns retronasal. Well-bodied & slick; hides the 10% utterly, even if after a glass or two, the warming creeps in. Qua complexity, it’s a tour de force . It would have been the same flavourwise, as well as in matters of balance, if Dany had left out the infernal weed. This beer is a delight to discover, but a toil to finish a bottle... Gold, hazy, fluffy white head. Aroma of pilsner malt, light fruity notes of grape, pear, light peppery spice, unique earthy character. Flavor features pilsner malt, some grapefruit citrus, light pepper, and an interesting, hard to describe oily/rubber note (sounds negative but it's not) mixed in with musty/cellar character. Very unique.

(750ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye at RBWG) cloudy gold-orange pour with soapy offwhite bubbles. Nose of wet wood, tart cranberry and honey. Taste of cranberry, tart orange, very drinkable and well carbonated. Awesome saison. BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 16, 2012
75cl, Vintage 2011 (golden foil), new exclusive brew, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, floral/sweet and slightly bitter/spicy, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, good brew, yet very expensive! 3fourths (9331) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 10, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 27, 2015 bottle conditioned 750ml, 2011 (gold foil). billowy tall white head with lasting retention. heavy minerallic and phenolic nose of banana match sticks / sulfur and gravel / dry concrete; strongly peppery and musty with a touch of what seems to be smoked malt. the boldness and surprise is what captivates me so much. medium-full body with rich and chewy banana and candy sugar with a touch of muddled tropical fruits, and it’s surprisingly dry - not at all what I would expect from 10%. highly bitter, highly dry, medium-high acid, intensely musty. honestly quite hard to wrap my head around. Hazy golden color with white head. Lemongrass, mint, coriander, pale malt aromas. Medium bodied. Lightly tart lemon flavors with honey, herbal sweetness, and coriander, clove spices in a pale malt base brew--very good theblindshaman (6) - Alabama, USA - JUL 28, 2012 does not count
Average example of a saison in the funkier style. A bit of smoke in the middle. Pours cloudy with a long finish.
