A very dark and entirely unique holiday seasonal beer, at a whopping 10% alc. by volume. Reportedly spiced with honey, caramel, coriander, black pepper, and other secret ingredients. The alcohol content probably goes a long way toward explaining that very warm and satisfied feeling one finds on the very first sip. A rich, dark-flavored beer with lots of deep-roasted chocolate malt, but still fairly dry, with a hint of sourness at the core. It is very spicy, with some winter spruce flavor in the bargain. The wild yeast sourness also adds to its welcoming character.

Bottle from Geers, Gent - BE. Color: dark amber beer with no carbonation and no foam. Smell: anise and licorice domination. Caramel malt notes. Taste: medium body and quiet easy drinkable for 10 ABV. Good attenuation and with caramel sweet malt and candy notes. Anise and licorice. Aftertaste: good caramel notes. And spicy finish. Perfect X-Mas beer.

Brown color with tan head. Aroma is very spicy, peppery, malty. Taste is spruces, peppery, spiciness. Finish is very dry. A real christmas ale, but damn, so much spices. Not balanced enough. A bit underwhelming. Dark Saisons are not my favourite.

anstei (2470) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - DEC 22, 2015
Bottle. An incredibly bitter Christmas Belgian. Quite spicy and strong, but not so balanced. Too much pepper, for example. I do not taste the saison at all.

kermis (14348) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 21, 2015
Bottle sampled at Essen Winterbier festival 2015. Appears cloudy brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of veggies, yeast, caramel, toffee and overripe dark fruit. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Above medium bodied with soft carbonation.

SaintMatty (7444) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - DEC 19, 2015
750ml Bottle - Dark brown with a foamy head. Ginger, cinnamon and caramel in the aroma. Fruity, tangy and spicy taste with raisins, sultanas, caramel, ginger and cinnamon. The finish leaves some tingly sensations on the tongue.

josanguapo (1810) - SPAIN - DEC 18, 2015
From cervezasespeciales. In Teku glass. Watching Sons of Anarchy 1x04. Smooth, a bit acidic. Bad smell. Better in taste. I could finish it without much trouble, but Im not sure if I like it. Not much wintery. Not worth its high price
