Dark brown color. Aroma of malt and candi sugar. The taste is malt with some chocolate and caramel. Nothing special.
Corked bottle, 2003-05-01, 7-5-7-3-14=36
Brown-amber color. Aroma of wood, light malt and Porto wine, bread. Dry mouth, more than the alcohol content may suggest; black pepper, some sourness, typical for Fantôme, a touch of wood. Bitter sour final. I don’t go crazy for Fantôme…
750mL bottle, pours a murky dark brownish amber with a small, quickly dissipating head. Aroma of spices, see fruity notes, slightly sour notes, and a bit of funk. Flavour of sour funk, some berry fruits, and some winter spices. No hint of the 10%, and the body is actually quite thin all things considering. Decent beer, and always weird with Fantome. saxo (20062) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - AUG 2, 2012
Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are yeast, caramel, candy sugar, fruits, nuts, malt and hops.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2009 Original rating: Opaque russet colour; nose of alcohol, plums, raisins, spice (paprika, white pepper), dried apricot, sandalwood; flavour is wonderfully barnyardy, with raisins, rodenbachish tannins, and an acidic finish. More recent samples have been less compelling, with reduced complexity and structural weaknesses. My rating has been downgraded to reflect this. TBone (18934) - Pori, FINLAND - MAY 13, 2005

Very dark ruby, almost opaque. Good brown head. Aroma is earthy with light spices and "Fantome cardboard aroma". Earthy lambic-like flavor. Chocolaty with some coriander and cardboard (!) notes. Hides alcohol very well. Slight sour and dry palate. Maybe not the most enjoyable brew but certainly very interesting and complex.
Bottle. Slightly hazy dark amber with medium light beige head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel, yeast, hop, little chocolate and spices. Flavour is malt, caramel, little chocolate, yeast, medium sweet, hops, dark fruits and medium bitter. rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 3, 2011
