Fantome rating number 50. I was hoping it would be the original BBB beer or maybe Millennium but this came along first. Shared with mattboz and swellbrewer. Thanks Matt for opening this.

Pours a hazy brown with some white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a thin layer. The bottle opened with an extremely loud pop and we all thought it would gush, but it didn’t.

Aroma when cold is caramel, roast, and a bit of rubber. Not a great start but enough of a malty lighter Noël that I thought that might win out over the rubber. Unfortunately, as it warmed the rubber came out more. This was accompanied by some barn yard aromas.

The flavor is malty, a little chocolatey, and bretty with a bit of lemon but also some some of that burnt plastic / rubber that has plagued Fantome the past couple of years. Not really a fan of this one, though it is interesting because of how much funk is present.

Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks Brad. Dark mahogany body with a thin beige collar. Aromas of leather, smoke, horse saddle, malt. Pond water and cigar ashes. Mild sourness and funk. Only Dany can make a beer this unique.

Thanks Brad for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing translucent brown with clean white foam lacing. The nose shows tart swamp with leather and hints of bourbon. The palate is medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Lightly tart with a dark malt whisky finish.

JaBier (7806) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - FEB 14, 2016
Bottle shared by a friend. Clear brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of band-aid, acetyldehyde, malt and caramel. Malty flavor with band-aid character before a sour finish. Drain pour.

Sample from batch 2/2013 at Kurtkeller 022: Pumpkin-tastic 03 on 10/31/2015. The beer pours a clear dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Campfire and fruity aroma, with some yeast in the background. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, adhesive bandage, and sour fruit. The finish is intensely smoked meats and fruit. Disjointed overall, but decent.

Picked this up in Belgium. Thanks Dany. Enjoyed split 2 ways @ 45 F in stemware. Pours flat dar brown fig colored actually. no head. The nose has a little acetic tartness some smoke, cherry skins and clove. Other faint berries. taste is interesting. I get cherry cola, a lot of smoke, some plastic, berries and some other dark fruits. It is slightly tart, tea-like and a crisp finish. the smokiness is not pleasant in this case but it is an interesting beer. Very amazing the ABV is 10 degrees.

Bottle. Hazy brown color, off tan head. Aroma of toasted brown bread and light spice. Taste has brown bread, caramel, spice, soft sourness. Nice.

phaleslu (10099) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 16, 2014
Big swing-top bottle shared by Roger - thanks again! Pours a dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of leather, oak, funk, dark fruit, and light smoke. The flavor is the same, mostly, but fruitier and even less smoky. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a tart, malty, somewhat smoked mouthfeel. But the smoke shows up after the finish on the palate, for the most part. Really odd beer.

Taste from a bottle at phaleslu’s Weird Beers Tasting. 750ml bottle. Clear lighter brown color. Little off-white / khaki head, just a few bubbles, a few bits of lace. Big smoke, dark fruit, vinous notes in the flavor. Moderate sour taste, kind of bitter. Some metallic, mild oxidization. Medium to bigger body. Kind of slick texture. Lighter carbonation. Alright stuff, not crazy about this one.

czar (8996) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 28, 2014
bottle shared by tom10101, thanks (?) pours dirty medium dark brown with a dirty light beige head offering good retention and some nice lacing. very yeasty - peppery and spicy with an off red fruitiness - dried currants and cherries perhaps, minerals, smoke, tobacco, ashes, plastic, metal, grass. lively carbonation, light body, light and welcoming acidity - mainyl lactic, for a gently tart, lightly astringent and smoky-grassy-peppery finish. this is a joke. DP.

Plastique fumé, acide lactique, différentes couches caramélisées et surtout de la confusion. J’aurais surement donné une pire note si j’avais eu une plus grande portion.
