4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Notes dated 07-02-2010: The pour yields the typical huge rocky white saison head atop the golden straw colored body. A little yeast kicks up on the final pours and muddies it up a bit but not in a bad way. The smell is of Meyer lemon, peaches, and the requisite barn yard funk. It might be the best aroma I’ve ever noted on a saison. Taste is under-ripe strawberry, tart citrus, and farm goodness. This saison finally made me realize why it is also called a "farmhouse". It’s as if every nuance of the farm community this was made on some how made it into the nectar that is Fantome. I am convinced that they don’t come any better than this so the ultimate score is due.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big time gushing. Remaining liquid is about half of the bottle. Hazy/murky bright orange colour with huge fluffy head, shows decent persistence and very nice lacing. Aroma shows fresh fruitiness (citrus, peach), a mild funkish, quite lambic-like feel and slight spiciness. That is quite sweet with very strong/fresh fruity notes (again citrus, peach), nicely attenuated by moderate tartness. Again a slight hint of spiciness and a balanced, moderately earthy finish. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation, pretty lively but still nicely soft. A very interesting beer in terms of aroma and flavour profile, but (at least in this bottle) not totally devoid of flaws.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Again, a special thanks to both Valéry and Dany for this bottle. Bright cloudy orange with a huge rocky fluffy head. Aromas of fruit, spice, mint, citrus, peppercorns and a strong barnyard and fresh cut grass. Flavors of melon, banana, clove, honey, sweet orange/lemon citrus and grass. Light to medium bodied with good solid carbonation. Hamds down, the best Saison that I have ever tried. Fantastic brew.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap. Pours a cloudy brownish gold with a huge foamy white head. Aroma is kalamata olives, grass, funky yeast, and citrusy fruit. Taste is creamy green olive, yeast, dough, light citrus, and some melon. Just the faintest touch of spice. Balanced mix of sweetness and sourness. Feels sort of like a funky unblended limbic or maybe a creamy, yeasty dirty martini. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Creamy, heavy mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Compared best before 2007 to one with a best before 2019. Totally different beers! Even taking the normal ageing into effect, the aroma difference is perhaps the most shocking. Of course, the older prevailed. This would be a great beer to do a 10 year vertical on!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy yellow with little white head. Aroma is fizzy tablet, some red berries, lemon juice, some cinnamon. Taste is raspberry sourness, raspberry pip bitterness. Sour but just right. Lots of bubbles, fresh and light on the tongue but with a heavy fluid feel.
I also have a version from ~2004 here: 7-4-9-4-14 Its a little darker. Aroma is completely different. Horse blanket, leather, syrup, red berries as well. Taste is not as fresh and sour, and more chalky and sweeter. Apart from that pretty similar. Would not have guessed it’s the same beer though.

Alewife, Queens bottle: pours slightly hazed light orange with a small white head. Aroma is funky, spicy, yeasty... really nice smell for those who like it. Taste is somewhat tart. Funky and spicy. Nice complexity. Super soft carbonation. Quite good.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Dziwny, zalegający, ziołowy posmak, przypominający nieco niesmaczny syrop na gardło.
