This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Notes dated 07-02-2010: The pour yields the typical huge rocky white saison head atop the golden straw colored body. A little yeast kicks up on the final pours and muddies it up a bit but not in a bad way. The smell is of Meyer lemon, peaches, and the requisite barn yard funk. It might be the best aroma I’ve ever noted on a saison. Taste is under-ripe strawberry, tart citrus, and farm goodness. This saison finally made me realize why it is also called a "farmhouse". It’s as if every nuance of the farm community this was made on some how made it into the nectar that is Fantome. I am convinced that they don’t come any better than this so the ultimate score is due.

From tap. Hazy yellow gold with s full white head and good lacing. Spicy, fruity nose. Citrus, yeast, spice, grassy flavors. Fizzy carbonation and a tart, medium finish. Really nice.

25.4floz (750ml) bottle, no freshness, paid the discounted price $5 about six months ago. Poured into a large snifter glass appearing hazy gold with a small layer of head. Yeast drives this beer, from the leathery, field greens, and medicinal aroma to the ester dominate palate. Pear, honey, rose depict the array of flavors over a full-bodied and soft carbonation feel. Very good saison.

Pours hazy to murky golden brownish with low white head. Aroma of pepper, coriander, wheat, spices. Taste is mild tart with a light yeasty and sweet finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.

Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, fruit, Saison yeast, bread, hops and citrus.

Opaque golden/amber beer with slight yeast and with a slight off-white head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, fruit and Saison yeast; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, hops and citrus.

This beer is intense, complex and balanced. God damn it, another amazing Saison from thos brewery. Lovely refreshing beer with a hint of fruit and some very slight funk at the end. Perfect appearance and a great aroma and palate as well.

Amazing Saison. Beautiful aroma of citrus and must. Perfect carbonation level and a truly balanced acidity. Overall this is one of best sour beers I’ve tried all year.

Fresh, fruity aroma with a rustic tart sourness. A bit of citrus along the way. Taste is light but complex at the same time. Fruits(orange zest), grass, tart. Balanced, highly drinkable saison, which is not as sour as expected. Weird and different, but in a good way.

Botella 75 cl cortesía Fonso tomada en Belmonte 28..04..2017. Lote N 15 hasta antes finales 2018. (r1187). Color ámbar tostado con espuma blanca. Sabores maltas y cereales con toques ácidos frescos. Cuerpo medio con ligero amargo final suave algo herbáceos y cítricos frescos. Bastante buena para repetir sin duda.

Amazingly delicate and light beer for 8% abv. Super drinkable, rather crisp, refreshing.
