4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
taken from notes: Thanks very much to BA idesofmarch89 for this great beer - 750ml shared w/ my wife. Poured chilled into a a cervoise.
A - Marigold shade of golden w a full 2 fingers of white cap that dissipates completely but carbonation continues and fine beading develops
S - Sweet and sour citrus notes explode out of the glass w/ a mild white grape mixed w/ peaches and honey. The nose is light malt scent w/ tinges of floral hops
M - Crisp w/ gentle acidity and a mild sweet texture, a hint of spice and alcohol w/ moderately low carbonation for the style. The feel is nutty/sour in texture which is very juicy
T - A very taste taste like marmalade w/ lemon spritz w/ a tinge of white grape and lightly sugared lime w/ mild spice at the end w/ nutty malt/yeast complimenting this highly fruity saison. The apricot and lemony flavor w/ mild wheat-like nuttiness is smooth + seamless w/ a juicy sweet and mild sour element that is well suited to the style
D - I would drink this any time of year, not just a summer saison to me. This saison is unique and drinkable like no other. I would choose this over 4 out of 5 saisons most likely. I can’t recommend this enough - intense and slightly sour, but refreshing.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 2018. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big lemon, orange, peach, apricot, strawberry, pineapple, pear, apple, white pepper, clove, citrus peel, hay, straw, floral, herbal, grass, funk, wheat, honey, cracker, bread, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, peach, apricot, strawberry, pineapple, pear, apple, white pepper, clove, citrus peel, hay, straw, floral, herbal, grass, funk, wheat, honey, cracker, bread, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness and light tart/tangy fruitiness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange, peach, apricot, strawberry, pineapple, pear, apple, white pepper, clove, citrus peel, hay, straw, floral, herbal, grass, funk, wheat, honey, cracker, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tart/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly acidic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a fantastic saison. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the balanced tart/spiciness. Amazing yeast complexity and balancing malt character; while still remaining nicely drying, spicy, tart, and funky; despite having modest carbonation for the style. A highly enjoyable offering all around.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy honey, huge white head, that stays. Yeasty nose. A bit wild. Very Belgian feel while tasting. Massively spicy. Minimal wildness. Pear. Other fruit. Light bitterness. Good.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Honey, fruits and some barnyard in the nose. Leather, spices and citrus. Very complex.
Hazy orange color with a medium head that sticks around for a bit. Some lacing.
Sweet and fruity flavor up front, which is cut by a lactic sourness and some bitterness. Complex mix of spicy flavors with some hay and barnyard impressions, although these are very subtle. This has the dankness of overripe fruits you’d expect from some imperial IPAs only by way of yeast rather than hops.
Body is medium to full with tartness, carbonation and a semi-dry long finish keeping it from being cloying.
Note: I’ve had this multiple times, and this beer varies a lot from batch to batch (and even bottle to bottle). This rating represents only one such tasting, but I would confidently give a similar final score to other bottles I’ve had even if the specifics were different. Always an adventure this beer.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle from belgoklubben, cellared for a couple of years. Pours hazy, syrupy golden with no head. Aroma and taste of weak pineapple juice and not so much else. Hints of spices and citrus, but they are weak.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big time gushing. Remaining liquid is about half of the bottle. Hazy/murky bright orange colour with huge fluffy head, shows decent persistence and very nice lacing. Aroma shows fresh fruitiness (citrus, peach), a mild funkish, quite lambic-like feel and slight spiciness. That is quite sweet with very strong/fresh fruity notes (again citrus, peach), nicely attenuated by moderate tartness. Again a slight hint of spiciness and a balanced, moderately earthy finish. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation, pretty lively but still nicely soft. A very interesting beer in terms of aroma and flavour profile, but (at least in this bottle) not totally devoid of flaws.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

Again, a special thanks to both Valéry and Dany for this bottle. Bright cloudy orange with a huge rocky fluffy head. Aromas of fruit, spice, mint, citrus, peppercorns and a strong barnyard and fresh cut grass. Flavors of melon, banana, clove, honey, sweet orange/lemon citrus and grass. Light to medium bodied with good solid carbonation. Hamds down, the best Saison that I have ever tried. Fantastic brew.
