ekstedt (6881) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 13, 2014
Bottle (75 cl swing-top) from Etre Gourmet. Hazy golden, medium white head. A bit strange burnt rubber phenolic aroma, which miracolously does not ruin the beer, but is a bit too much. Beneath it there are some fruity notes with some herbal hops. Medium bodied, medium to high carbonation. Dry with firm bitterness.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2014 Shared by Kyle. Not sure where the hell you’ve been but after turning up after several years the first thing you do is give me this crap? Just kidding, sort of. Dany makes lots of good stuff but has had some issues. The newest batches have been much much better but this unfortunately this is one of those burnt plastic smokey Fantomes. Flavor is less Smokey than the aroma but it’s intense. Will have to save mine for a few years to see if the yeast cleans this up a bit.

2014-08-15. Hazy pale yellow body with a small white head. 3+ Aroma is weird and phenolic, strange esters. Flavour is rough, almost smokey, phenolic, roughly bitter in the finish. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. A bit strange, it fails to grab me today. Bottle at Campground Brewdown

PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - FEB 20, 2014
75cl bottle. Shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clouded blond beer, small stable white head. NOSE: somewhat smoked, fruity, herbs. TASTE: fruity, herbs, little smoked. Not really a smoked beer or anything, but some hints of it. First one for that matter I find pleasant, not really a fan of smoked type beers. But kinda liked this one!

arminjewell (9687) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 10, 2013
Pour out of 750 mL bottle, slightly hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought smoke, hints of grass, biscuit, bready notes, into fruit, slight earthy tones as well. Taste is a mix of white fruit, some grass, some smoked malts, hints of caramel, biscuit, bready notes, finishing fairly bitter, some more smoke. Would be delicious if the smoke wasn’t there, but it works fairly decently.

FlacoAlto (4197) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 31, 2013
March 2013 bottle date; Sampled August 2013
A steady pour into my teku glass produces a three-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head that leaves quite a bit of lacing and falls in with a varied, rocky surface. The beer is a light gold color that shows an almost clear, pale, yellow-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma has an interesting earthy spiciness to it that is balanced by a bright fruitiness and then a sort of plastic like, band-aide leaning, phenolic funkiness that is in the finish. Sweet pale malt notes, floral pear notes, green raisins, some star-fruit like notes, and perhaps a touch of kiwi-fruit. There is also a light cracker like pale-malt note, and perhaps a touch of dried hay in the nose as well.

Quite dry, and quite light bodied, the beer is deceptively easy light and easy to drink. A bright phenolic note in the finish adds some band-aide like flavors, some plasticizer notes, and a musty, earthy note. There is a white pepper spiciness here, as well as a distinct clove like flavor, and towards the finish a softly sweet, pear / apple note that has a honey like edge to it without being overly sweet. Some higher alcohols add some spiciness to the finish as well, though these notes remain fairly smooth overall. The pale malt character contributes supporting notes of chewy crackers, touches of hay like notes, and a rounded pale malt chewiness.

Not bad, definitely has a bit of Fantome wildness with the phenolic notes; these aren’t dominant at the moment so the beer is still fairly drinkable. If it gets much more plastic / band-aide like it will really start to detract though.

Martinus (4610) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - JUL 31, 2013
Hazy pale yellow colour, white head. Sour aroma, malts, yeast, canned peach and candy. Bitter flavour, soapy, light sour, white pepper and some vegetal tones. Quite weird combination. Finish pepper, malts and yeast.
(From 75cL bottle @ ZZT-ish VIII / BBT I. Thanks for sharing, Judyvv!)
