Clear amber with little white head. Aroma is bread, musty hops, juicy malt. Taste is sweet juicy malt with herby hoppy bitterness. Low carbonation, heavy, almost oily.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2017 Holzfass. Copper-orange color with white head. Aroma is diapers, juicy malts, caramel and toffee. Taste is juicy malts, toffee, quite floral. Nice oily mouthfeel. Not my kind of Bock, it's too unclean.

Tap at fässla. Deep golden, offwhite lace. Full malt, straw, grain, quite chewy, honeyish, herbal grassy hop counterpoint. Apples retronasal.

Bottle 50cl. Poured into a lager glass. Clear medium amber, good two finger frothy off-white head, good retention, lacing; aroma roasted malts, brown sugar, caramel; taste light heavy to medium sweet and light bitter, roasted, burned caramel, light toffee, touch of alcohol; sweetbitter aftertaste, malty, spicy notes; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; well-balanced and easy to drink.

Mariusz (12304) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - JUN 4, 2015
Poured a dark copper color with off white head. The aroma was of caramel malts and plenty of wheat very pleasing to the nose.

bartlebier (4217) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - APR 30, 2015
50cl bottle bb05/2015, Bierothek Bamberg and draught at source 12/2014. Translucent copper rust, minimal head. Weak sugary aromas of caramelised nuts, beetroot, reduced sherry, braised cabbage, whiff of paint thinner. Flavour picks up on tze strength of characteristic roast - and caramalts, adding chestnut bitterness, baked banana, toffee to the cow fodder mix. Cheaper sherry, ruby port in the finish with a lingering, woody hop bitterness. Stays typically Bock-monodimensional, with underwhelming payoff, especially in mouthfeel, for a 8,5% whopper.

Idiosynkrasie (8216) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 9, 2015
500ml bottle [kindly rendered by ’Freiburgator’ bartlebier, thanks!]. Clear, copper-ish, dark amber colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty aroma with nutty touch and alcoholic perspiration. Taste is moderately sweet caramel malty, hints of toffee, bitter almond-like overtones; warming alcoholic finish. Heavy.

Bardzo smaczny Doppelbock z Bamberga. Fajna tylna etykieta niczym pocztowka.
