My Bottom Line : Japalo (1886) - DENMARK - JUL 29, 2011
Honeyed malts are pricked by herbal hops and bubbles in this well-rounded, faultless Helles.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam skirts the dark golden (darker than their Pils, for example).
-Malts tend to offer more flavor in this one.
-Drinkability is quite high due to leanness and soft flavor intensity.
-The mouthfeel is well polished. This feels professional.
On tap at the brewery gasthof.
Bottle Golden clear. Light smoke malty aromas. Dry slight sour finish. Good straight brew.

I found a humorous in Bamberg that when I asked for a Helles they actually asked pils, lager, or weizen. This one is a solid Lager. prawlie (1592) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2011
500 mL draught at Fassla in Bamberg. Darkish blond with lots of head at the start, but it soon disappears. Smells of malt, and a little of pilsner. Distinctive long tankard. Its alright, a plain lager, but it least it was a local brew. yespr (45443) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - JUL 18, 2011
50 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a good, white and dense head. Aroma is mild cornish and slight grassy. Mild butterish and mild cornish. Ends mild bitter and slight sweet malty. SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - JUL 3, 2011

Draught at brewery tap, Bamberg. Golden, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some grassy hoppyness. Body is light, malty – lightly grainy and lightly sweetish flavor, some grassy hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some hoppyness. Lightly sweetish lager, that’s it.
