Bottle. Dark brown beer with a strongish head. The aroma is malty, and the flavour is roasted, and bitter with a malty finish. Overall a reasonable well flavoured malty and roasted beer. danielst (406) - AUSTRIA - DEC 29, 2010
50cl bottle: I’m afraid the cap leaked a bit on the bottle I had, it seemed a little undercarbonated and oxidised - but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Reddish brown colour. Dark fruity aroma, notes of cocoa. Nutty, mildly roasty and minerally flavour with hay-like hops in the finish. Reminds me of a flavourful brown ale. Great, robust Dunkel! deanso (10150) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - DEC 10, 2010

Bottle at Carsten & Jette.
Dark amber with a small white head. Aroma moderate malty (roasted) and hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body. dwyerpg (6219) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 9, 2010
Looks like dirty water when it pours. This is just an amber ale really, but darker in color. some malts, a little metal, a bit different from the other standard German spices. Okay. KyotoLefty (10311) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 28, 2010
Bottle at the brewery.
To speak the truth, a rather uninteresting unfiltered dunkel, when coming from a bottle after the lager or pils here. Medium dark, very little malt taste and almost no sweetness. A good bit of hops. I was already past prime tasting ability by this time, but it was a significant letdown after the lager. Not bad, but lacking most of what I expect in a darker beer. fugitive (2019) - Athens, GREECE - JUN 27, 2010
Color dark red with small head. Aroma roasted malt, caramel, hop. Taste grain, light smoke. Fin (10609) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 27, 2010
Cycled into town (Bamberg) from our campsite just outside at Bug 17-06-10 had this on tap at the brewery tap. Pours chestnut in colour with a white head, good clarity Some toffee and mineral notes detected on nose, and also in the mouth, soft mouthfeel. Surprisingly thin for the abv, bitterness at end.
