Sulphur aroma like the other beers from Fassla. Maybe with a hint of toffee hidden somewhere. More toffee and some malts in the flavor. Not at all a bad beer.
Bottle shared by alexanderj. Brown pour. Dark german beer flavors, some smoke and sweet grain. Traditional dark lager, and decent in that regard. TimE (5775) - Tokyo, JAPAN - DEC 20, 2009
Very dark, roasty on the verge of being smokey character. Much more smoke than any other Schwarz I’ve had. Takeaway bottle at the brewery. altonbrownd (5898) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - NOV 14, 2009
Bottle at Wildeman. Dark brown body that looks like a soda, with a nice head. A malty and toffee nose. Watery and prickly texture. Taste of malts, caramel. Pretty good. 3fourths (9331) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 20, 2009
clear dark chestnut brown body with a patchy, large-bubbled tan head. sweetened roasted chestnuts in the nose, sticky almond, toasted cereal grains... excellent aroma. up front there’s a bit of cola resemblance, but more nuts, caramel, baked bread, dried stone fruit and sweet tobacco to make up for it. body is good but not great - no strong structure, no sharp crispness, but it’s still sound and drinkable.

500 ml bottle. From Bamberg, Germany. Clear dark copper colour with tiny off-white head. Dark malty aroma with some caramel and tea. Grainy malty flavour with hoppy aftertaste. Quite interesting. Dedollewaitor (16055) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 17, 2009
50cl bottle @ Bamberg. Pours amber/copper with a small creamy head on top. Some roast, bread, caramel and quite a lot of grain that shines through. Medium and smooth palate. Ends dry. OK Oakes (17274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 1, 2009
Bright copper with a moderate, even foam. Relatively weak aroma is a bit toasty, grainy. Slightly watery, minor diacetyl, and light toastiness. Finishes kind of quick. It’s thin, but there’s enough dark malt complexity to make is passable. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 21, 2009
Bottle from brewery. Dark coppery-brown and clear. Aroma is subdued toasted malt, with some herbal notes. Drinkable enough with soft carbonation. Nice toasted malt qualities with not a lot of sweetness. Just a mellow, dry, drinkable marzen-like brew. Thin but has a nice finish I like. gnoff (10226) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - MAY 25, 2009
50 cl bottle at Zly Casy, on May 23, 2009
Clear dark copper color, fluffy tan head. Sweet malty scent. Sweet malty taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.
