A beautiful beer with plenty of promise but sadly, it doesn´t fulfill. Or does it?
Dark amber colored with a nice, white head and a sweet aroma promises a heavy, tasteful beer but no... It tastes slightly bitter and a bit sour. So it looks and smells like a good food-beer, it´s actually a great thirst cruncher for those summer-nights... I like. kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAY 31, 2006
Bottle (from Fassla): Amber, light carbonation with a white head. Caramel notes. Balanced creamy mouthfeel. Nice nutty malts, spicey hops. Suprisingly good! johndoughty (5403) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2010
Bottle.Brown with a medium head.. Nutty gentle sweetnes with low carbonation. Quite smooth and well above average without being spectacular. danielst (405) - AUSTRIA - DEC 29, 2010
50cl bottle: I’m afraid the cap leaked a bit on the bottle I had, it seemed a little undercarbonated and oxidised - but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Reddish brown colour. Dark fruity aroma, notes of cocoa. Nutty, mildly roasty and minerally flavour with hay-like hops in the finish. Reminds me of a flavourful brown ale. Great, robust Dunkel! In bottle at home with Sev. Pours an amber colour with a thin beige head. Malty aroma is a little smoky and also quite nutty. Again a little smoky flavour with caramel, plums and chocolate. Mild carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Quite subtle for a Bamberg beer. tgncc (3130) - Bellmore, New York, USA - MAR 27, 2015
At the brewery. Nice Amber color. The aroma is caramel, fruit, LI ght hops. The flavor is caramel sweet, light chocolate, bread, fruit. The finish is sweet, light noble hops. Nice, easy to drink. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2016
Bottle: The aroma consists of mild caramel, roasted grain, and a hint of nuts. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights transparency and a two finger off-white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some sticky webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with light caramel/toffee with a hint of chocolate. The finish has mild roast with a touch of nuts. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation. blackisle (2531) - IJburg, NETHERLANDS - AUG 22, 2014
Bottle 50cl. Clear amber brown color, small sizzling creamy off-white head, disappears rather quickly, thin layer remains, fair lacing; rich aroma of roasted malts, bread, brown sugar, licorice, some fruity notes, touch of coffee; taste medium sweet and slightly bitter, roasted malts, bit of coffee; medium to full body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation; finish is mild bittersweet, hint of chocolate, bit peppery, roasty maltiness lingers on. Bit strong for a dunkel, but I don’t mind... Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 30, 2014
(Bue à la brasserie): Une mousse qui se dissipe rapidement laisse les arômes de grains rôtis, torréfiés et de noisettes caramélisés. La texture est pas aussi optimale que certaines Dunkel mais les saveurs compensent.
