Very dark, roasty on the verge of being smokey character. Much more smoke than any other Schwarz I’ve had. Takeaway bottle at the brewery. cubs (10714) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Tap @ Fassla. Deep brown/orange, clear appearance with a tan head. Grassy, floral hoppy, a bit toasty malty aroma. The flavor has notes of light caramel, nuts, grass, and earth. Quite nobel hoppy. ferryman72 (61) - NORWAY - OCT 30, 2016
A beautiful beer with plenty of promise but sadly, it doesn´t fulfill. Or does it?
Dark amber colored with a nice, white head and a sweet aroma promises a heavy, tasteful beer but no... It tastes slightly bitter and a bit sour. So it looks and smells like a good food-beer, it´s actually a great thirst cruncher for those summer-nights... I like. kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAY 31, 2006
Bottle (from Fassla): Amber, light carbonation with a white head. Caramel notes. Balanced creamy mouthfeel. Nice nutty malts, spicey hops. Suprisingly good!

Bottle.Brown with a medium head.. Nutty gentle sweetnes with low carbonation. Quite smooth and well above average without being spectacular. danielst (420) - AUSTRIA - DEC 29, 2010
50cl bottle: I’m afraid the cap leaked a bit on the bottle I had, it seemed a little undercarbonated and oxidised - but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Reddish brown colour. Dark fruity aroma, notes of cocoa. Nutty, mildly roasty and minerally flavour with hay-like hops in the finish. Reminds me of a flavourful brown ale. Great, robust Dunkel! In bottle at home with Sev. Pours an amber colour with a thin beige head. Malty aroma is a little smoky and also quite nutty. Again a little smoky flavour with caramel, plums and chocolate. Mild carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Quite subtle for a Bamberg beer. kerenmk (5169) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - NOV 6, 2017
Bottle, gift from Fassla. Clear dark brown. Nutty aroma, a little bit roasty. Some chocolate, chestnuts, slightly roasty but rather sweet. Medium body, bitter and slightly alcoholic finish. Fizzy.
