Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2016
Bottle: The aroma consists of mild caramel, roasted grain, and a hint of nuts. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights transparency and a two finger off-white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some sticky webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with light caramel/toffee with a hint of chocolate. The finish has mild roast with a touch of nuts. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation. kerenmk (5357) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - NOV 6, 2017
Bottle, gift from Fassla. Clear dark brown. Nutty aroma, a little bit roasty. Some chocolate, chestnuts, slightly roasty but rather sweet. Medium body, bitter and slightly alcoholic finish. Fizzy. rauchbier (3949) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 26, 2004
Bottle, at the brewery tap. Deep amber bronze, almost chestnut colour. Good lasting off white head and moderate condition. Gentle mix of caramel malt and hop resin in the nose, Gentle toffee and caramel malt with some hop notes developing in the mouth. Starts sweet in the finish then becomes chalky dry with a touch of roasted barley.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a strongish head. The aroma is malty, and the flavour is roasted, and bitter with a malty finish. Overall a reasonable well flavoured malty and roasted beer. FatPhil (17334) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 29, 2013

Rich malty aroma. Big malty body. Full malty finish. As a malt-head, this pressed my buttons and gave me everything I want in a dunkel.
On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear light brown with average white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, charcoal. Flavor is malt, caramel, hint of smoke and hops. blackisle (2891) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - AUG 22, 2014
Bottle 50cl. Clear amber brown color, small sizzling creamy off-white head, disappears rather quickly, thin layer remains, fair lacing; rich aroma of roasted malts, bread, brown sugar, licorice, some fruity notes, touch of coffee; taste medium sweet and slightly bitter, roasted malts, bit of coffee; medium to full body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation; finish is mild bittersweet, hint of chocolate, bit peppery, roasty maltiness lingers on. Bit strong for a dunkel, but I don’t mind...
The beer has a delicious look. The beer is dark, and has a nice dark amber color in the light and a dark brown color in the dark. The beer is crystal clear. Some tiny bubbles can be seen rising towards the top. On top of the beer, a small layer of rough slightly grayish foam is formed. It collapses quickly, to leave a thin drape. The smell is a little mild, but not bad. There is a nice tiny bitter touch of roasted barley. I also smell some lovely hop aromas. There is a nice bitter aroma and a fruity sweetness. This fruity aroma is lovely, but I can’t really define what it is. Maybe there is a touch of strawberry. The taste is also very nice. There is a firm bitterness, balanced by some malty sweets, a tiny salty touch of roasted barley and a fruity sour twist. The balance is great. The palate of the beer is normal. A bit more kick wouldn’t harm the beer. But like this, it also ain’t bad. Good beer. Maracuja05 (2052) - Mainz, Rineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - NOV 12, 2017
