Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a semi-dark burnt amber color close to brown with a finger’s worth of a foamy head. Sly messy lace.
The aroma had some sweet and roasty nuts, full caramel malt sweetness and a touch of some grassy hops.
The flavor blended fairly nice the sweet and the roast to follow into the aftertaste and ride into the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good too.
Overall, pretty nice brown ale worthy of having again. daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 17, 2013
GABF. Brown pour, off white head. Straight forward brown, roasted nuts, toasted malt, bready flavors. Very clean and pretty damn good for a style that can really suck. JStax (7307) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2013
Draft pour at Fat Heads. Pours a darker amber with a velvety head of beige foam. Very good lacing. The aroma is roasty burnt caramel. Taste has notes of earthy roast. Lighter to medium bodied. Easy drinking brown ale. Dogbrick (14290) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 24, 2013
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear brown color with a medium thin foamy light beige head that dissipates gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt and piney hops. The finish is roasty with a mild earthy hop aftertaste. Decent overall. Intense earthy hops. Mild robust malty character with muted caramel and nutty flavors. Sharp bitterness. Finishes with sappy pine sticking to the palate. Small roast, coffee and smoke notes emerge as the beer warms slightly. pottygok (548) - Ohio, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Aroma: Nut malt aromas with hints of cocoa at the edges.
Appearance: Dark brown with tan head.
Taste: Light sweetness with a medium bitterness.
Palate: Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation, long finish.
Overall: A LOT more hoppy than I expected. It’s almost a dark pale ale. Still, very solid and well crafted. JaBier (8396) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Sample at Fat Head’s North Olmsted on 1/21/13. Clear brown pour with a huge tan head. Aroma of malt, earthy hops and some toffee. Malty and caramelly flavor with earthy and spicy hops before a malty and crisp finish. BVery (11458) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - FEB 17, 2013
Tap at the brewpub. Deep brown pour with a spotty off-white head. Nutty and chocolate malts are featured here. Smooth palate.
