on tap @ Vino Belissimo / Lima OH --- Strong aroma of pine hops. Clear, very dark ruby brown color, 1" beige head, full curtain of lace. Taste is malt that quickly adds pine hops that effectively leave the malt behind. The hops march without resistance to a lingering finish. Typical strong IPA, but, solid none-the-less. tonypreto (130) - Akron, Ohio, USA - NOV 26, 2014
4 oz sample at growler bar. Great head, beautiful dark tan. Pours a rich dark brown. Tastes alright, wasn’t too umpressed, wouldn’t get for me. ttutony (959) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 22, 2014
Dark brown with thin tan head. Strong piney Simcoe aroma. Roasted character is understated a bit. Fairly potent bitterness. Nice beer. More like a black IPA in style. Beerman6686 (6611) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 9, 2014
This poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of tons of.simcoe goodness, and light roast character. Flavor was similar, juicy piney hops and mild roast to know its their. Pretty good stuff

Nothing particularly wrong but was hoping for a little more from my favorite style at top three favorite breweries. Maybe a little more fruit/citrus notes would hep.

On tap at Dutch’s. Very dark brown, near-black color. Thin khaki head. Leaves great, thicker rows of lace. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation, light dry finish. Aroma is damn near perfect for a black IPA (IPL). Great big citrusy hop, some earthy, kind of herbal hop. Great amount of roast malt, lightly spicy, and some mild coffee in the finish. Exactly what I’m looking for in a black IPA, and impressively flavorful and assertive for the lower ABV. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet, dry finish. Fantastic, assertive, perfectly balanced and very satisfying black IPL. Refreshing and flavorful. Best of both worlds of dark malt and crisp hoppiness. Tap at FH, whats not to like about a simcoe bomb? its a black IPL with tons of simcoe and black malt, looks black in color, tastes like simcoe hops and isn’t too high in ABV. good stuff. outlawskies (564) - Ohio, USA - NOV 1, 2014
Description says hints of pine, it is full blown pine and almost tastes like gin. It's a nice black color but is misleading do not be mistaken. Not a Julie beer!! She give 0.5 Dogbrick (14387) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 31, 2014
Sample at TownHall for the CBW Collaboration Kickoff on 10/10/2014. Clear amber-gold color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal hops, doughy malt and fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a spicy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
