COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Traditional German styled wheat beer served unfiltered. Hazy straw colored beer that hints at banana and clove complexity as all Hefe Weizens do. This thirst quencher drinks so easy it may fog your goggles.

On tap at Fat Head’s Portland, pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Nose brings out banana and clove, like a typical hef. Flavour isn’t terribly authentic but it has the typical overripe banana notes, some clove and a little citrus. Drinks pretty well, though not a huge fan of the style. Okay.

[2/23/15] Draught at Fat Head’s in Portland. Cloudy grayish yellow. Pleasant banana and bubblegum aroma with clove notes. Sweetish flavor with banana, bubblegum, citrus, a bit of graininess, and some phenolic spiciness, especially towards the finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Draft sample at FH. Poured a hazy yellow color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate clove, banana and wheat aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Medium hefe sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a hazy yellow color with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of wheat and bananas. Light body with flavors of sweet spices, wheat and bananas. Some bubblegum notes as well. The finish is clean and fruity with a wheaty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed gold with a medium sized white head. Soft wheat and musk on the nose, a touch of yeast. Banana, clove. Big esters and yeast. Medium bodied, soft yeast, a bit of fruit. Chewy yeast and sweet wheat into the finish, long banana tones. Big yeast profile here.

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a golden color with a white head. Standard Hefe profile. Nice for a style that isn’t one of my favorites.
