COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smoked German-style helles inspired by our Brewmaster’s travels to Northern Bavaria. Continental pilsner and Franconian beachwood smoked malts provide a soft, malty backbone that is balanced nicely with a firm dose of German Noble Hops.

On tap at Pittsburgh south side. Golden appearance. Smoky aroma and flavor. This one is not too overwhelming at all. I find smoked beers to be tough to get through after half the glass however this one is enjoyable the whole glass. Finishes nicely and doesn’t over linger. Well done.

Golden beer out of the tap with an attractive white head. Nice smokey wood nose. Clean, crisp beer with a solid smoke overlay. The smoke is not so aggressive as to overpower. Well balanced and tasty.

Tap at FH, if this is what budweiser should taste like, good flavor solid backbone and crisp finish. great beer, but not really a smoked, more like a premium lager

Nice smoked beer, a bit one dimensional, but overall very enjoyable. Poured clear deep golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is straight up smoke, along with the flavor. A bit of graininess in the flavor, but the smoke really dominates. An enjoyable beer and definitely a bit unique.

Couple of samples at Fat Head’s. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white. Aroma of smoke, ham and not much else. Flavor is smoky and hammy, but the true flavor of the beer comes through on the back end. A nice blend of light sweet malt and crisp noble hops. Nicely done.

Extremely smokey aroma, flavor was definitely a little too extreme.... Smoke really overpowered the palate from tasting anything else... Really couldn’t drink anything else after that... Not the best

On-tap at Cole’s. A very light body with lots of white foamy head. The line probably needed to be cleaned up, but the flavour was fine. A significant but not overbearing smoked malt, rather faint in the aroma, in a well-malted beer. Good drinkability.Easy drinkability.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours a clear orange color with a medium thin eggshell white head that diminishes steadily. Jagged top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Smoked malt aroma with some caramel notes. Medium body with a moderate smoke character and flavors of toasted malt and hops. The finish is smoky with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.
