What a gorgeous beer, it’s a clear golden colored liquid topped by 3+ fingers of voluptuous snow white head. The head doesn’t go anywhere in a hurry but eventually dies down to a scrim that covers the beer, leaving behind a respectable amount of lacing on the walls of the glass. It has a hop-forward nose that tantalizes you with a bevy of citrus fruits. Grapefruit is the easiest to pick out but with a little imagination you can find notes of tangerine and pineapple. With each drink your tongue is greeted by a wave of bright citrusy hops that follows through on the promise of the nose. Flavors of pine emerge near the finish and linger pleasantly after the death of the drink. The pale malts are definitely in the background here but they are substantial enough to keep it tasting like a beer. The bitterness is moderate, typical IPA level stuff. The mouthfeel is light bodied and crisp with a smidge of oily resinous character. The malts are dialed back so much in some session IPAs that they taste like water infused with hops. Here Fat Head’s pushes things toward the hop-forward end of the spectrum but stops short of going over that line. I’ve had both Go To IPA and All Day IPA and I think Sunshine Daydream is better than either of those session IPAs. It’s a crisp, refreshing beer spilling over with citrusy hop deliciousness, like sunshine in a bottle.

bottle. Golden with one finger head. Awesome hop aroma. Fresh citrusy hop flavor. Wonderfully delicious. Almost like grapefruit soda.

Aroma: Citrus and floral hops with hints of pine and tropical fruit. Appearance: Clear gold with minimal head. Taste: Light sweetness with heavy bitterness to balance. Palate: Full body, heavy carbonation, watery texture, long finish. Overall: Really developed for session brew. Goes great with kraut and sausage.

Bottle from Heinens. Gold with chill haze dense head and lace. Nice peppy light citrus pastry aroma. Dry fruity mango melon apricot sweetness with assertive citrus rind lingering dry bitterness. Effervescent carbo accentuates hops. Light body. Excellent. One of the best in style so far.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/7/2014. Pours sightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops notes with a fair amount of malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of grassy/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is an awesome session IPA! All around great complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops with moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light gold with a small foamy head that fades to a bubbly ring. Awesome dank, tropical fruit aroma with hints of citrus and pine. Taste super juicy without being too sweet. Mostly pineapple, kiwi, and citrus. Hint of biscuity malt. Light bitterness. Thin to medium body. This has to be the best seesion IPA I’ve had. Although at 5% it should probably just be an IPA. I will be buying many more bottles this summer.

Squat bottle. Pours dark straw with a lot of flaoties and a lot of effervescence. The head is frothy and well retained. Nose is piney bitter hops, citrus, florals, white pepper. Tastes floral, dry, resiny, hoppy, with balanced malt and a IBU-laden finish, and more bitterness. My only minor beef is that the finish might be a TAD malt-light. Still, that’s like complaining about getting Jessica Alba as a companion for the night instead of Katy Perry..

4/29/15. On draft at World of Beer Destin. Clear golden pour with a nice khaki head, great lacing. Awesome aroma, very dank, no specialty malts mucking it up. Great flavor, dank, onion, diesel, pine, citrus. Yum. Could slam all day.

(En fût à Fat Head’s Portland): Des tangerines bien mûres, une verdure riche et une amertume minérale sans pitié. Une montagne de buvabilité.
