Ernest (7984) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 3, 2018
UPDATED: APR 4, 2018 Bottle (Jan 17, 2018 bottling). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (kumquat, grapefruit, herbs, orange), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Given the 6.3% and assertive bitterness, this comes off more like an IPA to me, but it's remarkably solid. Simple but attractive and clean hop aroma (very citrusy, but with some noble-ish herbal quality to make it more interesting than a lot of Citra beers, and none of the usual icky Simcoe notes) leads to a wonderfully balanced and textured mouth experience. Very fluffy in the mouth, and very clean bitterness and mild acidity makes it a true joy to quaff. No frills, but very well made. Wish I could get this locally, this would be a frequent slugger for sure. Colorado is completely drowned in dirty, poorly made IPAs, and already three beers from Indiana and Ohio breweries have killed the vast bulk of what's available here. That's pretty sad.

on tap at Crafty's in Northeast Phila - clear amber color. Slight hop aroma. Decent hop flavor. Just ok.

Pint at Industry Public House. Ok, if Dale's Pale and Alpha king are pale ales then fine, this is a pale ale (read: IPA). Big hop nose on this with grapefruit, dank herb, and pine. Reasonable caramel maltiness provides balance. Hefty bitterness hits the palate with each sip. The malt body is pretty generous, but not too much. Lots of classic american hop bite explode with grapefruit and evergreen. Lingering bitterness in the finish. Clean and rich.

Can from Smith's. Pours hazy copper with off-white head. Nose is floral, resiny hops, tropical fruit. Tastes hoppy, resiny, floral, with assertive hops, notes of tangerine, pineapple, and a bitter, complex finish. Very solid APA, with hop bitterness off the scale (figuratively).

Pours an opaque amber with a frothy head which dissipates quickly. Sweet malty aroma. Medium body, high carbonation. Typical malty flavor from Midwest beers. John L - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear dark gold to light copper color. Fluffy white head that lasts with a lot of lacing. Aroma is grassy and lemon. Right out of the gate is orange pith that finishes with the lingering bitterness of fresh grapefruit. A hint of lemon. Bitterness comes off a bit harsh.

This canned brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a very softly carbonated body transparent dark orange colored body. The weak aroma was hoppy. with a medium citrus aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of hops. An OK brew just nothing special.
