UPDATED: APR 2, 2004 rather belgian-like citrusy aroma...malty and floral, very inviting. not particularly amber, but fizzy and frothy. extremely malty, almost too sweet. definitely not enough hops and complexity to balance out the significant amount of malt and alcohol in this one. cloying, but still plenty drinkable; just not a great beer. but for $5 per 6pack at trader joe's, i'd buy it again. 2003 Bottle. Dark orange-amber with a medium sized beige head. All I really taste is some light malting and a huge dose of alcohol. It's like they use the alcohol for the flavoring. Not getting much hops. Drinkable enough though, but it's just too sharp on the throat to drink that much of. Medium to medium light body, smells of alcohol and grains. elnadeau (786) - Laguna Niguel, California, USA - FEB 25, 2004
Yellow gold with a smallish head, aroma is malty with yeast. A bit thin, with a non-offensive but non-distinctive overall flavor. The malt presence is there but has no real character and the hops just kinda shows up in the finish. Nothing to rave about, but it's light and drinkable and could have a place during a session - plus you can find it at Trader Joe's for a real bargain price. Clear dark yellow with a thin white head. Malty nose, with some hop flavor on the back end. not bad. BeerLimey (2154) - California, USA - FEB 4, 2004
Clear, light golden appearance, decent head formation. Clean malt and grain aroma. Very light palate, mild biscuity maltiness with a fair amount of hop bitterness in the second half.

Bottle. Light golden yellow color with a white head. A wet musty aroma with a cardboard flavor. A little sticky on the palate a slightly harsh malt flavor. Alcoholist (570) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - JAN 20, 2004
A golden medium bodied ale. Well hopped, sweet malty balance. Better if drunk a bit colder to keep the alcohol from showing up too much. r464 (2362) - Earth, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 7, 2004
Cloudy golden color. Malty and strong like a Belgian ale. Not bad, but would not be one of my first choices for an ale... Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2003
Golden color, malty alcohol taste with some bitter hops at the finish. Kinda tin can tasting (in a bottle). drinkbeer (283) - Redondo Beach, California, USA - DEC 19, 2003
Not too much flavor to cover up the 7.1. Does have a nice amber maltiness to it up front, but a bit watery and not too much too this beer.
