One thing is clear: Faust Kräusen is unfiltered. The character of this strong golden special beer is mild, fresh, full-bodied and flowery malt, hops flower with fine and light honey fragrance.

never had a better Pilsener in my limited life...well a few years experience...Not always happy with the combination of hop varieties, water, etc in these styles and I might only just try this because it is German, and German beer rocks, but there is a hidden element to this beer that shines far above any other. The added Kräusen aspect must do something with the flavour to push it beyond me superlatives. Its currently in North Bar, Leeds at £5 so tuck in while you’ve got a chance...

Bottled. Looks delicious: Pale orange, cloudy, rich creamy head. Intense fruity apple aroma. Dry with rounded mouthfeel and stable maltiness. Grassy, really bitter finish. Aromatic and very well balanced. A world class lager!!

Massive foamy head on top of cloudy orange-golden hue. Fruity apple and apricot nose. Yeasty champagne dryness, subtle fruit notes, grainy wellrounded body, grassy and fruity aftertaste. Wow, great beer!

Serving: from tap at Brauereigaststätte Schlappeseppel. Aroma: lightly perfumy hoppy. Appearance: large, frothy, off-white, initial head with good lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Hazy, dark-yellow body. Taste: lightly sour, citrusy, initial flavor and lightly bitter, lemony, yeasty finish with short duration. Palate: light body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall: Very good. Excellent appearance and palate. Unique, complex flavor. I’d like to drink this again.

Many thanks for this Swing-top bottle to kevnic2008. Jasne zlociste po dolaniu wymieszanych drozdzy robi sie jasno brazowe. Piana srednia ale opadajaca szybko. Smak fajny piekarniczy nieco, pszenny, glownie skorke chleba wyczulem. Delikatne bez gazu, goryczka uboga.

rauchbier (3891) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2004
Bottled. Hazy amber gold, good lasting white head and moderate fine natural condition. Well hopped in the nose, would almost pass for a pils if the yeast wasn't so prominent. Good maltiness in the mouth with sweet yeast and underlying hop character. Quite dry in the finish with a pleasantly restrained hop bitterness and lots more lingering yeast notes. Sampled at Delerium Café Brussels March 2004

Aroma of malt and a bit of fruit esters. Cloudy dark straw color with lacy white head that lingers. Malt forward with a touch of bitter taste. Dry finish.

bottled. murky golden with a lingering head. bockish aroma of alcohol and golden syrup. tasted of kiwi fruit and honey on toast, some vanilla, quite heady, plenty of alcohol showing but in a good way

500ml flip-top bottle opened with loud “pop” bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Cloudy hazy straw golden honey colour with a thin trace of dirt-like yeast sediments; Explosive three finger head and crumpety white foam which last for two minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of bready malt, with strong floral, strong honey, sugar cane, spices, bread, yeast, faint lemon and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of full malt, with floral, honey, strong molasses, thick bread, yeast, moderate lemon, light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Slick palate; Mouth feel is full maltyness in a solid body and fairly thick background. Full glory of floral, honey and molasses permeates. Lightly spiced, bready and quite yeasty. Light lemon to round. Very nice!... Hoppiness is strong floral, strong honey, spices, faint lemon and light grass in nose and taste; Bitterness is moderately light for an abrupt, low astringent sweet malty finish; Quite dry after taste. Nice sweet and quite easy to mouth.

Comments: This is a very solid Zwickel / Kellerbier with good looks, strong maltyness, expressive flowal and honey characters. More like an unfiltered version of Faust’s Helles. Easily enjoyable!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and drunk at home. Gold, slight haze, lasting thick white head. Decent lager aroma. Some good lemon on the aroma. Actually this is rather likeable. Some decent pale malts. Yes a lemony, nicely carbonated beer. I liked it.
