Piepenhenrich (591) - Steinbach, GERMANY - SEP 15, 2017
A decent Festbier, bit stronger, both, in alcohol and taste compared to the classic Hell. Do like the balance of grainy and hoppy elements, easy enough to drink on a summer occasion.

0,5l swing top bottle directly from the brewery. Clear dark golden with an huge white frothy head. Some grain on the nose. Taste starts smooth, mainly grain, some malt and caramell in the second row. Spicy. Low bitterness. Nice one of its kind.

500ml flip-top bottle opened with loud “pop” bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Golden honeycolour; One and a half finger head with crumpety white foam which last 90 seconds; Good sticky lacing and active carbonation; Quire fragrant and sweet aroma of malt, with strong floral, strong honey, sweet bread, lemon and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of full malt, with metallic, floral, honey, molasses, bread, lemon, strong bitter hops and strong herbal grass; Mid to light body. Slick and smooth palate; Mouth feel is very good maltyness in a solid background, back with strong flower and good honey sweetness. Light bread and strong lemon to round. Nice and easy!... Hoppiness is floral, strong honey, lemon and grass in nose, and stronger with herbal elements in taste; Bitterness is close to strong for a lasting, high astringent sweet malty finish; Slightly dry after taste. Nice sweet and herbal hoppy to mouth.

Comments: This is a well-made Oktoberfestbier - strong maltyness, smooth body, strong but just right honey sweetness, and surprisingly strong herbal bitterness. Very enjoyable!

Bottle from Getränke Star, Trier. Pours clear pale golden, very pale for a festbier, white head that dissipates quickly. Nose is subtle but complex, floral, honey, white bread, malty. Taste is nicely sweet with honey notes, followed by pleasant hops. In my opinion, carbonation is a bit weak. All in all a solid and subtle beer.

Bottle. Clear yellow, medium minimal lacing head. Aromas are a bit cheesy, sweetish fruits. Taste is rather sweet, medium bitter, sweetness dominates. Pleasant carbonation, thin mouthfeel. Aftertaste is a bit fruity, malt sweetness. Rather sweet beer, not bad, but nothing for me.

Test „Sommer-“ gegen Winterfestbier.
