Wow... this is an ugly beer. I suppose it’s not supposed to be good-looking, though. It’s murky, mossy, with a medium brown color and a solid film of peanut oil atop the surface. It has an aroma of fresh peanuts and peanut shells. It’s sweet, like sticking your nose in a peanut butter jar. The flavor is meaty and very oily. Chocolate is present but not overwhelming, complimenting the peanuts very well. There’s lots of goo in this beer... most definitely peanut oil and chocolate residue, mostly as sediment at the bottom of the glass, but also a good amount in suspension after the pour. It’s interesting, but good. It’s dense, oily, and impressive... just not sessionable. This isn’t something you’d want to stock your fridge with, drink with a meal, show off to a date, or drink during any other everyday event. It seems like more of a novelty thing to me that at this stage is just a little too immature. There’s alot of improvement that can be made on this... but from as difficult and painstaking as I heard this beer was to make, I’m still pretty impressed.
