Great beer. Comes in a "tall" can, which makes it a good bargain. Seriously, any beer that is inspired by Viking folklore is automatically a winner.
Pours a finger of head on a dirty red body.
Aroma is earthy, dark fruits and milk.
Taste has a complex mixture of dark fruit sweet, some coffee and lemon bitterness.
Texture is thicker. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JUN 3, 2016
Dark bread and caramel nose and flavor, underscored by light citrus and bitter pine. A little thin given the abv, but otherwise ok. tatinek (65) - South Dakota, USA - JAN 29, 2016
Poured from can an amber color with red tinge. Sweetish aroma of caramel malt and ETOH. Taste is malty and a bit bitter however the alcohol is quite noticeable in this one. You might feel the hand of Loki spinning you just a bit if you drink this one rapidly. It is difficult to get a balanced beer with this much ETOH and I would call it out of balance. It’s a bit on the cheap malt liquor end of the scale. I would not buy a second one. maxwelldeux (4433) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - MAY 10, 2015
Can. Pours a pretty cloudy amber color with a moderate light tan head on there. Nose is a bit bready and caramely, with just a bit of grassy hop bitterness coming through. Taste is bitter and slightly harsh with a bit of caramel popping through. Feels quite bubbly. DuffMan (10754) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 14, 2015
One pint can. Reddish Amber, more burnt orange really, with a thick off white mattress of a head that retains magnificently. Massive malty nose, Malteasers, hazelnut, undertones of marmalade. The palate has all those sugary malts, a bit more of a nutty and bready character, ending with moderate bitterness. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

16 oz can. Aroma: nutty and malty, with hints of hazelnuts, burned caramel, and dirt. Taste/Palate: sweet and creamy; finishes bitter, with a long astringency. julesjis (256) - Oregon, USA - FEB 26, 2015
Poured from a can. Aroma is slightly floral and sharp. Flavor is soapy at first, then bitter and astringent. Not my favorite. mjg74 (3204) - La Mesa, California, USA - JAN 19, 2015
Canned from World Market. Deep amber/brown in color. Nose is dominated by a dry roasted maltiness. Roasty up front with a touch of breadiness. Nicely hopped finish. smallfry (169) - - NOV 11, 2014
(Can) Hmm. Smells much better than it tastes. A very intense astringent, bitter aftertaste which is weird for the style. Flavor is a little thin. I’d rather not drink this again. Salmoniform (1281) - Sweet Home, Oregon, USA - OCT 15, 2014
Poured from tallboy to glass. Amber red hue with creamy tan head that lingered. Aroma is caramel, cereal, toffee, bread, spice hops. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a nice bitterness in the following. Overall this is a nice brew.
