Bottle, black body some graham cracker colored head, nice lace. Aroma is huge vanilla, brown sugar and cookies, roasted barley, dried plums, molasses, whiskey, marschino cherries. Taste is vanilla and cherries, chocolate and bourbon, some oak, salt, black pepper, anise, citrus rind. This is sweet that quickly transitions to dry and whiskey. Pale is rich but not syrupy, carbonation subdued and soft. Finish is hoppy dry, but I kinda think a year in the cellar would really improve this by taking the edge off, it’s just a touch unbalanced, and the bourbon is a tad hot, but that cherry bourbon vanilla is so worth it! This is good!

Pours an opaque, near black with a dense chocolate head which lingered a bit.......aroma of black licorice, vanilla, coffee.....taste is boozey, licorice, touch of cardboard, touch of wine......not sure it’s all proper. Very thin for it’s dense appearance, finishing with little more than booze.....possible this bottle had issues

Bottle: Pours a very dark brown, near black color with a thick brown head that fades off. Smells sweet, sort of intoxicating with vanilla and milk chocolate. Enough bourbon to compliment, but remain sweet. The taste is malty, chocolate, and a heavier emphasis on the bourbon barrel. A little bourbon heat on the back end, but no issues here. Very nice.

12 oz bottle shared by Spencer, thanks! The pour is a darker brown bordering black with a frothy lighter khaki head and a decent amount of soapy, spotty lace. The aroma is lacking. There is a little bourbon up front moving through vanilla and into licorice and roasted malt. Quick transitions. The flavor is a little better but still makes me realize how thin it is. Light vanilla and then dominating licorice and roasty malt. There is a little barrel character on the far end, but I'm pretty disappointed. The mouth feel is thin and light. There is a minimal carbonation and it falls off quickly. The aftertaste is a little sweet. Some light chocolate notes but that is about it. Rather disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Purchased from local carry out specialty shop. 12 oz bottle into tulip. Black with dark frothy tan head which dissipates quickly. Sweet bourbon aroma with notes of vanilla and toffee. Taste is lightly sweet with light notes of cocoa, coffee, vanilla and bourbon. Well balanced, nothing overpowering. Awesome palate, medium bodied, creamy texture and soft carbonation with a long silky vanilla finish. Although I have a few personal preferences in this style, this one is still high on my list. I will definitely pick it up again in the future. Overall great beer I would recommend to anyone interested in the style. Personally I am a fan of the style. Especially during January through March.

Dark brown with tan head. Nose is bourbon and chocolate. Taste is big chocolate, bourbon, oak, a touch nutty, some astringency. Silky stick mouthfeel, somewhat thin for the style.

Bottle. Pours thick and black with a thin beige head. Strong bourbon aroma, oak, coffee; alcohol becomes apparent as it warms. The strong bourbon taste overpowers everything else -- would like to taste more of the base stout. Full bodied, smooth, minimal carbonation, astringent finish.
