Pours thick opaque black with a chocolatey brown halo in the class. Almost no head, but left a thin sticky lace. Nose of whiskey, cocoa, vanilla, toasty malts. Palate is average medium thick and alight alcohol tingle. Taste sweet, slight hop, vanilla, toasty cocoa. Abv is well hidden, and a tasty drinker. -Fish!

Thanks to ericandersnavy for sharing this bottle. Dark brown pour with red highlights and a tan head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate and roasted malt, as well as some whiskey and oak notes. the flavor is similar. I get some maple and vanilla, as well as some whiskey, chocolate and oak. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottled, as ’Bourbon Barrel’. Nose is full of cloying, inky chocolate with sugary grape and roast undertones, plum-rasin and very strong whiskey. Pitch pour with a light brown head. Taste is extremely sweet, thinnish light body with chocolate and prune/raisin, light caramel and earth, with a clear and specifically Bourbon finish, from the fumes to the steady, creeping warming in the chest. Faint vanilla and light grassy-spicy notes. Great to have a barrel-aged beer that doesn’t smother you with oak and vanilla. Maintains the warmth and changed mouthfeel without showing too much alcohol. Far too sweet, but this was an enjoyable drink; guess it’s true that impies really are easy to brew.

Thick dark head. Sweet Chocolate/coffee aroma. Bourbon, smokey flavor followed by sweetness and finishes with a smooth oakey, coffee flavor. Much less bitterness than typical imperials. Great, unique imperial stout.

Thanks Dak
Appearance: Pours dark brown with a tan ring around the edges.

Aroma: Bourbon, raisin and dark chocolate.

Taste: Dark fruit, bourbon, dark chocolate, char, wood. Very vinous.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, silky texture. Modest carb.

Overall: A bit on the sweet and fruity side for my Bourbon Barrel Impy. With that said, this should age well and is best shared amongst a few people.

Pours black with a tan head of foam that recedes quickly. The aroma has a nice roasty character with vanilla, wood, and bourbon notes. Taste is roast, some dark fruit, vanilla, and toasted bread. Medium body with a nice slickness on the palate with average carbonation and a long boozy finish.

Bottle from Capones.. Pour is a dark dark brown with light tan head that forms a small collar around the glass..lighter brown to the edges. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, cherry, bourbon, maple wood. Taste is slightly sweet.. bourbon, vanilla, wood, molasses, toffee, maple syrup. Mouthfeel is thin and sweet. Short hoppy bitter finish.. Consistency is too thin.. decent beer.

Deep black body, thin bubbly khaki head, spotty lacing. Nice bourbon forward nose with vanilla, oak, chocolate and soft roast, flavor is less impressive as it is less well integrated and developed. Medium to full bodied, smooth carbonation, silky, minimal abv burn.
