Received as an extra, poured into my Portsmouth tulip. Brownish orange in color with about a fingers worth of off-white head. Nose is composed primarily of spice, in particular nutmeg and cinnamon. There is also some light pumpkin and vanilla. Flavors starts of spice as well, but ends with a weird vegetal taste. Not all that pleasant. Moderate mouthfeel with good carbonation, slightly oily, and a moderate finish. Pretty run of the mill pumpkin ale. A lot of emphasis on the spice and not enough focus on the actual pumpkin. Decent beer, but I am happy getting it as an extra instead of buying it myself.
I had it on tap. It pours dark red with almost no head. The aroma is pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The taste is pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon. It’s boozy. I wouldn’t say it hides the alcohol content. It was still enjoyable though. alexsdad06 (10596) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 28, 2016
Bottle picked up locally from notes. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, pumpkin pie spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, pie crust, flavor just wasn’t well integrated, ok. jsmerig (1656) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 31, 2015
Pours a hazy ruby red. Aroma of cinnamon and spice. Taste is sweet and malty with cinnamon and nutmeg. Just like a pumpkin pie. Alcohol is masked well.

DATE TASTED: October 30, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... OCCASION: Another successful high school homecoming game... APPEARANCE: dark, almost mahogany brown body that densely conceals the other side of the glass; tough to see any bubbles; the head is a staunch white halo of bubble and smears; good, thick lacing that resembles Japanese artwork... AROMA: pumpkin, phenol and surprisingly thick dough at the start; caramel is interwoven with a vodka or rum base that suggests the alcohol that 9% brings... PALATE: warming immediately; dissipating aftertaste; medium-bodied, flat carbonation, with no fanfare at its end... TASTE: tough to get past the phenolic presence; the malts are strong and overpower other flavors--such as pumpkin(!)--and leave a plasticine ending ... OVERALL: not at all up to my expectations, with the majority of the experience centering on the awkward, medicinal flavor....a strong, demanding seasonal that needs more nuance to be memorable or sought out...

From 2014 batch. From cellar.
Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.
Very little head, almost flat looking. Beer is a slightly hazy dark amber color. Aroma is of caramel malts and doughy yeast and cloves. Taste is strong, yet lightly sweet, lightly bitter and very lightly sour. Overall a good pumpkin ale with plenty of spice. I don’t believe ageing this beer did any good for it. Overall a nice malty beer with pumpkin and spice flavor. A pumpkin beer that doesn’t taste fake or overdone. I would suggest this beer to a friend. tsd08460 (1210) - Marshall, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2015

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a tulip at a bottle share last month.
The appearance was a nice looking bronzed orange color with a thin slim quarter finger white foamy head that quickly died off. Barely any lacing.
The smell had a strong big authentic pumpkin with a delicate ginger spice and a light vanilla rolling through.
The taste copied the smell and carried a nice sweet pumpkin but a delicate ginger spice that I really liked.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sessionability maybe leaning towards the sipping quality. The carbonation was extremely smooth and good.
Overall, what a nice imperialized pumpkin ale. If I lived in its distro, I’d probably be buying this all of the time. Good stuff.
