THOUGHTS: Nice beer. Refreshing summer thirst quencher. Would probably be a little better with a little less raspberry. It was fairly complex, but the raspberry dominated the more subtle flavors and aromas. Good saison, great fruit beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light, pinkish orange with a large, white head that mostly diminished, but left excellent lacing. The aroma was fairly weak. It had light to moderate spicy and dusty yeast; slight doughy yeast; both sweet and tart raspberries; and lemon. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, lightly acidic and slightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet, moderately sour and light to moderately acidic with an average to long duration. There was raspberry, lemony citrus, a little pepper, tart raspberries, lots of yeast, spicy yeast, dusty yeast, slight funk, sour raspberry, sour lemon, and sweeter raspberries. Everything blended well. The light to medium body was a little creamy and then rather dry with lightly fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly alcoholic finish. Pours amber with a redish tinge, medium white head. Aroma of raspberry, grass and earthyness. Taste is tart into a muted dry finish. Overall this is more refreshing then comlex, i was hoping for more. pineypower (3344) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Pours out a light pinkish copper color with a huge champagne colored head. Aroma is lots of sweet/tart raspberry. Taste is raspberry, some light tartness, grains, and a little spice in there also. Something about this just doesn’t work for me though. jeff789 (1408) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 28, 2011
lightly hazy amber with a white head that has the faintest of pink hues, lasting head…
lots of raspberry aroma, not tart, but not sweet either, light spiciness,
medium bodied, a little tart, has more of a black cherry flavor than a raspberry flavor as far as I can tell
dryer finish, lightly spiced, I don’t get a lot of saison ness from this as the raspberry fruit notes overpower a lot
some spice, but not a ton and if its belgian yeast its not that present

750ml from StormKing47 on BA - thanks, dude! Very nice pour, bright orange with pinkish hues, mildest sediment, nice continual bubbles from the bottom and a thick rocky head atop the blood orange. Nose is raspberry pulp initially, so much so that I feared for the beer’s balance, but it settled down into something more fragrant as befits a saison. Light and prickly body, with a hint of tartness and spice making the palate lively. This beer grows on you, with the mild pucker from the fruit blending well with the spicy and very dry finish. Not pitched at the extremes by any measure, the flavors are blended quite well. Surprising and yummy.

The saison pours light raspberry amber with a big bubbly off white bright head. The aroma is very light fruit sweet notes and pepper notes as well. The body is a bit bubbly, as expected from the brewery, but smoother than normal. The flavors of pepper blended with light fruit notes, not very funky as expected in a saison. 12oz bottle. Pours a clear, deeper gold colored body with a finger-width, fizzy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fairly fruity and sweet, but not so much that the pepper and light tartness don’t come into play. Lots of raspberry up front with a nice mix of sweet and tart along with a hint of lemon and apricot. There is a light pepper spice and earth along with some dry yeast and a light, honey-pale malt sweetness. Flavor is similar, but I get a bit more of a malt backing, which is nice. Sweet and semi-tart raspberries up front with a touch of honey sweetness and smooth pale malts. Some hints of lemony citrus and apricot come in again along with a light yeasty spice and earth. Smooth honey comes out a bit more towards the end along with a bit more of a raspberry tartness. Finishes clean and dry with a light bitterness before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer. Its fruity and sweet, but there is a light tartness and yeasty, earthy pepper hint to balance along with a pleasant touch of honey sweetened pale malts. This was very enjoyable. hazy gold with thin eggshell head. Aroma is light grassy hops with raspberry bubblegum. Medium body, rather on the thick side for a saison. mildly sweet and lots of rasperry, lets say halfway to a Lindemann’s Framboise. Slight clean bitterness. It’s good and drinkable, but the subtleties of the yeast are lost in here. Maybe a slight barn hay. jeremytoni (3073) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - JUL 14, 2011
From a bottle poured a slightly pink amber color with a good amount of head. Nice malty flavor with a slight tart raspberry finish. jcwattsrugger (12427) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JUL 4, 2011
