Nice style of beer. A lighter brown hard to find combination. Easy to drink. One of the better beers I’ve been able to find in Switzerland. Uriel (146) - San Jose, California, USA - MAR 28, 2006
A big, dark, strong beer, found at a lovely sausagehouse where the proprietors spoke no english. Sweet and malty, with the darker fruits very prevalent in the flavor. TheBeerOrg (2145) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 29, 2006
Pours dark amber, approaching black with a mostly receding beige head. Aroma of dark candi sugar, toffee, and caramel. Taste is light sweet, chewy, caramelized malt, and rye bread. Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied with soft carbonation. Nice and tasty dunkel. Hits all the right spots.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2015 Re-rate: Bottled somewhere in Davos. A lot better than previously. Roasted malts, still quite some bitterness. Ok Dunkel. Previous rating: Bottled from some supermarket in Switserland, BB 07-11-2008. Very dark brown coloured, initially large light brown head. Malty and somewhat sour nose. Flavour of malts and liquorice, sour at first but more bitter in finish. Unbalanced and unpleasant brew. MrW (770) - Mechelen, BELGIUM - MAR 19, 2014
.33 bottle @ our hotel in Davos.
Aroma of nuts, dark chocolate, liquor.
Ap: clear brown copper, beige small head.
Taste of caramel, sweet, nuts, wood.
Medium bodied, not much aftertaste. JorisPPattyn (10118) - BELGIUM - JUN 22, 2005
Pretty aged sample Reddish coca-cola, head in style. Dark fruit, dark malts and dark bread. Faint oxydation, quite sweet nose. Much less sweet taste, bready is there, but with green herbs, slightly spicey, faint oxydation. Pretty light MF, refreshing enough for the style. Bitterish aftertaste; dark malts. Surprisingly pleasing, just not very lively. Dogbrick (14316) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 22, 2011
On draught at Zeughauskeller. This brew pours dark brown with some reddish highlights around the edges. Medium foamy off-white head that evaporates slowly, and sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and a touch of hops. The finish is malty with a slightly metallic hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
