Dark colour with white head. Aroma is oak and hops. A lot going on with this beer. Initial notes of vanilla and blackcurrant, oak, dark malts and then the hops. Great beer!

Bottle, 11C. Dark brown with a light tan head. Smells very like Karma Citra - bitter oranges, lychees, mocha. But the toasty vanilla notes are immediately apparent upon a sip, along with some slightly zingy spice notes at the end. The cocoa and slight nuttiness of the normal version are there too. Pretty good and the treatment adds things rather than interferes or overwhelms, but I still would take the normal version over this. But impressive and thoroughly enjoyable.

Pours opaque dark brown black with tan head and big lace. Aromas of smoked malts, wood, herbal, grass, citrus, earthy, chocolate, coffee and grains. Med chewy body, chocolate, nutty malt, pine, citrus medium bitterness, lingering through satisfying finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with a decent tan head & good lacing. Roast, citrus, cocoa, slightly floral aromas - big aroma even during the pour. Taste is roasty, piney, some citrus, and warm woody, vanilla; starts a little sweet but rounded out with nice bitterness. Cracking good beer - just shades the Karma Citra I reckon

Interesting nose of chocolate and citrus. Taste is a bit on the sour side, for mine. Nicely complex, though. On tap at the Wheaty.

Chocolate hit to start before the floral and citrus comes through. Black in the glass. A sting on the tongue with a sharp sugar finish. Another brew that gets better when allowed to settle. Classy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A amazing Black IPA, This oaked black IPA is complex with a huge layering of different flavours and aromatics as the temperature and your pallet adjusts. dark in colour, Hoppy citrusy aroma that changes into vanilla as the beer warms. A outstanding beer and unlike any other brewed in Australia

On tap at blind tasting. Pours a very dark brown/black with decent sized tan head that hangs around nicely. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla and the prominent piney hops that I remember from the normal Karma Citra. Taste is much the same with piney hops and the sweetness rounding it off. Not sure how much the barrel ageing actually did for this beer.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2014 Tap at Mane Liquor on the Blind Tasting Barrel Aged Beer Night. Pours dark brown with a small, beige head leaving sticky lacing. Nose shows prominent vanilla and chocolate - almost white chocolate like with a big heavy dose of piney driven hops and some tropical undertones. Not as much barrel comes through as I was expecting. More barrel on the nose. Some light vanilla and oaky/woody undertones with the excessive hopped up beer. Grass, piney and citrus hops work well. Basically Karma Citra with hints of vanilla underlying it. Solid stuff. Re-rate from the bottle. Preferred it in the bottle than the first time around. I know it’s only on oak for 7 days but I like the sweet vanilla that runs through it. Just adds something extra and brings it all together nicely. Enjoyable
