Pours pitch black, smooth and creamy, medium tan head with some sticky lacing. Aroma of chocolate fudge and roasted malts. Tastes roasty bitter, with strong dark malts, chocolate and notes of coffee, caramel emerges later, before a bitter finish. UPDATED: DEC 6, 2017 330 ml bottle from Feral Brewery. Appearance is opaque black with generous tan froth which recedes to a thin layer. Aroma is dark chocolate, followed by roasted malts. Taste is similar, but in reverse order, roasted malts first, then dark chocolate, going from sweet to bitter coffee at the end. Carbonation is just-so, giving it a creamy, oily mouthfeel. Taste: Rich espresso coffee, prune (dark fruits), dark chocolate. Dark malts with moderate roast malt, burnt sugar, charred wood. High sweetness (very enjoyable). Well hidden abv. Moderate and firm bitterness. Dark crystal malt aftertaste (long length). 9
Palate: Low fine carbonation, creamy texture, soft body. Sticky. 4

Bottle. Deep black, cola head. Aromas of rich dark chocolate, some coffee, ester and grog. Big rich flavours, rummy alcohol, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, touch ester, caramel malts and a bitter hop backing. Magnificent beer.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2017 On tap at The Union Hotel, Newtown. Pours a jet black with a beige head. Aroma: malt, coffee, dark chocolate, spicy notes. Taste: malt, brown sugar, coffee, bitter cocoa. Mild funkiness. Mild citrus flavours. Mild to moderate bitterness. Creamy texture. Bottle at Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured almost black with a round bubbly off white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light coffee, dark chocolate. The flavour is liqourice bitter with a smooth, rich, oily liquorice malt, alcoholic, floral hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Full to medium bodied with flat carbonation. Lovely aroma but the liquorice and alcohol were present well into the finish and the lingering bitterness was not so great.
