Brewed with seven specialty malts this deep brown ale has a surprisingly smooth mouthfeel. Roasted malts result in a wonderful chocolaty & nutty brew. Refreshing, fulfilling & award-winning! It’s all about the Malts! 7 malts - including brown, chocolat and Blackprinz. Willamette hopping provides a hop/malt balance - but not overpowering the malt. If you dare, enjoy at only slightly chilled 10-15 degrees Celsius (the English know best!).

On tap. Pour a mahogany color with very light head. Aromas of cereal and malts. Similar taste. Nothing special.

adamnowek (3195) - Brussels, BELGIUM - AUG 6, 2016
Fairly deep brown with a tiny white head. Aroma is quite nutty and malty. Taste is some milk chocolate with a hint of hazelnuts.

TimE (6074) - Tokyo, JAPAN - JUL 24, 2016
low bitterness good chocolate character. Not a bad brown but pretty middle of the road

alex_leit (5025) - Minsk, BELARUS - APR 4, 2016
Can. Brown color, weak foam. Aroma: yeast, slightly caramel, sweets. Taste: malty, sweet, caramel, sugar.

Lagerboy (2221) - British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 16, 2016
355 ml can. Clear deeper copper, lasting thinner tan foam. Aroma of sweet toasty malt and brown sugar. Taste is quite thin toasted malt, caramel, kinda nutty, some cola and sugar. Moderate carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Love the graphics but not one of Fernie’s better efforts. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

mcberko (18583) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 10, 2016
On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a deep dark bronze with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of toasted malt and toasted nuts. Flavour is along the same lines, with bready malt, a touch of caramel and toasted nuts. Pretty weak and unambitious. Not offensive, but it’s not good.

solidfunk (9363) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - DEC 31, 2015
A little sour and slightly contaminated in overall taste. Pours brown with ok head. Tangy sour finish. Not my thing. Tap at Garrick Head.

DeanF (2514) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 4, 2015
Soft barley aroma with a modest head and dark brown body with still a decent amount of translucency. Rather disappointing barley flavour and watery finish. A typical beer of theirs that is found lacking.

cmacklin (1276) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 19, 2015
355 ml can. Pours a clear brown with a small, creamy, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel, bread and nuts. Sweet malty flavour of caramel and nuts with a dry finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

ljthiessen (1397) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAR 18, 2015
Can. Clear, dark reddish brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is raisin and sweet bread. Flavour is very malty but not overly sweet, raisin and grape with slight bready notes and a little metallic. Soft carbonation with a pretty dry finish. Like most of Fernie’s offerings, pretty plain but fairly well balanced and very drinkable.

BeerAndPonies (171) - Medicine Hat, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 8, 2015
355 ml can from a Fernie sampler twelve-pack, served in a shaker pint glass. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a light brown, puffy head that leaves streaks of lace. Nose is roasted malt, nuts, and a bit of coffee and cocoa, with mild fruitiness beneath; flavor is quite savory with bitter cocoa, nuts (peanuts in particular), dark roasted grain, and a vaguely steak-with-mushrooms presence. Medium-bodied, and with lingering roasty, nutty notes on the tongue. A delicious, savory beer, fulfilling the "meal in a glass" notion with good balance.
