COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sometimes keeping things simple is the route a great beer should take, and in the case of Mandarina Tart Saison, our brew team erred on the side of the obvious. We shipped this simple and clean Saison off to our kettle with our house lactobacillus blend to create a bright and tart acidity, then added in an orchard’s worth of Mandarina hops that provided a vibrant blast of Mandarin Orange character ripe with citrus notes, as well as an underlying bitterness that jabs at the sourness without overwhelming the palate. Our house Saison yeast dries this beer out to ensure its sessionability, all while providing complimentary lemon and mild white pepper notes. Not ones to be reserved, we added in plenty of juiced Mandarin Orange to accentuate the beautifully obvious. Beginning to end Mandarina Tart Saison is a celebration of its winter harvest namesake.

Far and away the favorite of my wife, she really loved it. I also think it’s their best that I tried. Very strong mandarin in the aroma. The flavor is fruity and sour. The sourness hits you right away and is strong and never dies down. It’s really hard to call this a saison in my opinion as a result. Should be categorized as a sour ale.

Poured a hazy dark golden color with a white head. Aroma was of lots of fresh orange, McDonald’s orange drink like. Some grainy and lemon quality there too. Big orange upfront followed by a grainy maple like finish. Really tasty.

Holy crap. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a white head. Aroma is like a super sour orange juice. Tastes like lemon juice and OJ mixed together with a cracker wheat finish. Love it but wish the sour was diled back a tad.

Keg at the brewery tap room, 29/01/16. Hazed golden blonde with a decent egg shell white covering. Nose is zingy citric peel, Mandarin, straw, tangerine, grain. Taste comprises tangerine, yeast esters, crackers, lemon rind, straw, farmyard, mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a hoppy chase. Decent.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy gold with a small white head that settles into a ring. Kind of smells like Fresca, to be honest. Grapefruit, lemon, minerals, sweet soda, and some funk. Light-bodied, with modest carbonation and a tart, zesty mouthfeel. Good, interesting citrus saison.

On tap @ Fieldwork. Hazed pale straw colored beer with white foam. Woah, super fragrant and juicy. A ton of orange juice and zest. Almost pulpy. Some tangerine, orange, and green grape. Just a touch of sweet wheat crackers and bread dough. There’s a little bit of a slickness to the mouthfeel, but is otherwise good.
